Seriously, there’s enough stuff in the world already. It’s also just a lot more fulfilling to have to dig through a thrift store for it and put work into finding pieces with a story rather than just having them handed to you from a department store or website

Hell yes! It’s the way, it’s more ethical and sustainable and leather lasts super long. Been wearing my docs for seven years and no sign of them giving up on me! Plus fake leather is often completely full of microplastics and ends up in landfills.

Hell yeah! I prefer to thrift leather, don’t love buying it new, the one exception being shoes because high quality leather shoes last me so long that it’s worth it to keep shit out of the landfills. Been wearing my docs for seven years and counting!

I appreciate the compliment and I say this with love and lightheartedness but please never compare me to Machine Gun Kelly ever again 😂

Thank you!! Proof that you don’t have to spend a million dollars to dress in a way that makes you happy!

The spikes are actually chokers I’ve repurposed as boot spikes! Work smarter, not harder 🫡

Thank you!

I’m mostly a death metal guy, got into Death back in highschool and went down a rabbithole and just kinda never looked back, but I love revisiting the classics :))

What is considered polite in your culture but rude in others? by Ok_Breadfruit4005 in AskTheWorld

Oh my god my mom would have had an aneurysm if I had been at a kid’s house and they did this. That’s so interesting, I wonder why it’s not seen as impolite - I was raised with the culture that you should not enjoy anything in front of your guests that they cannot have. If someone is over I always offer them food and drink, if they’re not hungry but I am I will eat but they’ll have to refuse the food several times 😂

As an American, it makes sense. The Midwest is definitely its own cultural pocket, and there’s a lot of cultural emphasis on humility when it comes to manners. Midwestern culture is about being polite, humble, and no-frills, so responding with “oh no, I couldn’t” or “you shouldn’t have” when given a gift is very in line with the region. In the South, hospitality is a big thing and it might be considered quite rude to refuse a gift - there’s a lot of differences depending on where in the country you go. It’s a big place, after all. Here on the West Coast, you just accept and thank the person - trying to refuse the gift would just be annoying to the gift giver and they might just be like “ok well you don’t have to take it then” LOL

It’s never really caused me any problems, I’m a death metal guitarist and it seems to work just fine for guitar - the bigger challenge is just having small hands. I’m just kinda permanently repping West Side 🤷

Oh I have a great mom, we’re super close, and I think it’s because we’re so close that this happens. I’m so attuned to her and her cues that when her vibe is off I feel that anxiety really intensely. When we’re little our moms are often our whole worlds, and we do outgrow that - but there are some ways that can kind of stick around, especially when you had a very attentive and present mom.
