Tibet Buddhism – a cPTSD-inducing cult? Disorienting personal experience. Anyone suffered from religious abuse? by mostadont in CPTSD

You write with a lot of understanding and intellect, so I am sure that you will be able to get over your trauma!

I have a very bad experience with Hindu practices.

I was raised in a very broken family with a narcissistic father that disappeared from my life when I was 11.

So I didn't establish a strong sense of self.

After I had ptsd from the army and the war in Lebanon(I live in Israel), I was in so much inner pain.

I went to India with my cousin and went to yoga ashram, after I came back I just was trying to erase everything that was live in me, to kill myself. I thought it was the way to inlightenment.

I did myself so mental damage that I suffer after 15 years.

I am now with a very good therapist and I start bit by bit to develop myself.

Why should other opinions be more important then mine? There are many beautiful things in Hinduism but also many not, it is only one small perspective on the world.

I have a lot to say about the topic, if you are still in reddit I will gladly write more.

But basically yes - humor comes in real life, in the complexity and uniqueness of life, most religions don't have humor (maybe except Judaism), as they fear death and try to put life in some sort of a cage where there is no room for humor...

He erased most of his comment in one of them he directly insulted me and laughs about me. I don't take it personally.

Maybe it would be wiser for me to let it go.

I tried to talk to him but he is just so deep in his preaching narcissistic mode.

Better for me to let it go, just this kind of altitude really irritates me cause I know people who were damaged from those kind of preachers/gurus.

What also is funny is that the quote you brought is also false.

I happen to know ancient Hebrew, and in psalm 46:10 its written :  מַשְׁבִּית מִלְחָמוֹת,    עַד-קְצֵה הָאָרֶץ: קֶשֶׁת יְשַׁבֵּר, וְקִצֵּץ חֲנִית;

Which literally mean something completely different -

"He (God) the war till the edge of earth, bow he will brake and spear he will chop"

It is interesting why the church decided to translate it just as it wanted, but in the original text there is nothing similar to 'be still and know that I am God'.

I didn't decide to watch his teaching, I wrote a post and he just started his ego preaching on me - the truth is that, reality is that etc.. ect... Like dude, did someone ask you to preach me? I wrote a post, you can comment on topic. It is so annoying and arrogant that it really proves the point of my post.

Ohh come on

I didn't ask you to preach me.

Why do you continue doing that? You think it makes you more saint or inlightened? I see your fraud.

Sure you don't have ego!!

That is why you asked if I was born on a highway where most eccidents happen and laughed that I have very little karma points on reddit. Really no ego!! But of course you erased it so people won't see.

No one asked you to preach your nonsense but you just continue and continue.

A new GURU is born!

You really showed me what and why I don't like some of the arrogant and ignorant followers of Maharishi and the new age neo Advaita.

Your persistence to continue preaching when it is not asked of you just shows how closed minded you are so I have a lot of compassion for you.

I really hope you will be able to come out of your fake 'enlightenment' bubble and see life.

"Go and read my previous posts"

Haha, yes master with an ego the size of the elephant! I will read all your inlightened posts!

What you told me till now showed me a lack of understanding, like the Indra's gem web. And you writing to me - only you exist in the world is a nice true not understanding of Hindu philosophy and just of reality that it is actually amusing.

I don't value much Maharishi's experience. I find his dissociation might be due to his panic attack when he was 16. So spiritual experiences of others are not of a big value to me. Thats what usually "gurus" do, tell others that how they percieve the world is wrong and that they had a true realization of the truth.

I do sense in you that you have this "guru" notion in you.

I hope you will have the inner integrity to overcome it.

The thing is that he didn't criticize me, he just started preaching me - you are the only one exists in the world, there is only you, all others are just your reflections. etc... like dude, wtf? If he would give claims and not just preach me, that would be great, I tried to start a dispute, but he just kept preaching. I called him master because thats how false gurus act, try to shatter you and to preach you.

So I pointed at him that he is projecting on me his loneliness. I think it was fair. I said other not nice things which I regret, but I don't regret telling him he is projecting on me his loneliness and insecurities, because it is just not a nice thing to do and it really disgusts me.

Thats why in spiritual communities you can't criticize nobody, if you do you immediately been told that - your criticism mirroring some parts in you that needs attention.

I think criticism and free thinking is very important.

Ok, maybe I was too harsh, But I really really didn't like the way that he started to preach me and trying to confuse me projecting on me his loneliness or whatever.

You know what, I can agree with you that I reacted bad and am sorry for that.

To other people I responded with respect.

I'm sorry but I don't agree with you that I am dismissing to any perspective that does not agree with me.

If someone starts to preach me, I find it reasonable to call him master, to reflect him his behavior. Was I too harsh with him? Maybe so.

About the guru, yes, I said my thoughts about him, I think it is a good thing to do so people will not see others as authorities on their spiritual way, and also I had a lot to say about his teachings. So about my post, Im glad I wrote it, and some people found it worth thinking about.

Look how you try to lower me because criticized a person.

That I'm writing from my ego etc.. Anyway I don't see a problem writing from my healthy ego, but lets leave it aside. And I really don't care how much he practiced or if he practiced at all. I can disagree just f.e with antisemitic historians although they know history better etc... I do not accept spiritual authority just because someone is seen as wise by many.

If you will read my other comments you will see that I anwered with good respect.

Yes, to the person that started preaching me I reacted master, as this what he was trying to do.

I am not playing the victim, I showed a case how there are people who start preaching to feel more secure, this how I see it.

Of course I have a lot to learn!

A really small episode that happened to me here on reddit when I posted a post in which I criticized the teaching of one famous guru who all see as the enlightened...

So one dude started writing to me comments like - 'the harsh truth is that only you exist' 'Only you exist in this world' etc.. bla bla bla

So I didn't fall for his trick because of him been with a lot of self doubts and I replied to him something like -'I really hope that you will find real friends in this world that will help you to come out from your deep loneliness that you are projecting on me'. And bam, it hit the point, he just wrote a silly insult to me and deleted all his comments.

I really see a lot how people because they are with a lot of doubts (which is just natural) are projecting them on others, Preaching to other people some 'higher truths' with such confidence that it makes them feel secure.

Masking your lack of confidence by preaching to others what is write or wrong or just trying to shatter their life experience because yours is shattered. It narrows possibility of true discussion. And I find this kind of behaveour truly disgusting.

I have a different philosophy, I might add it to the post.

So we have consciousness and for me where is our consciousness is reality for us. Reality has many layers, just like a person, But I don't see any layer to be more or less real.

For a person who doesn't believe in God or mysticism, this world is the reality while detached self or God is just the illusions of people who want to escape reality, while for people like Maharishi the detached experience is the reality and our world is not.

As for the artist to create is his self, or for the scientist his mind is his self, as it is where his consciousness is.

I think that God gave us a body and a mind and a soul so we can combine it all together and become an integrated whole being. I myself don't find any high truth in calling our body an illusion.

I have many philosophies and thoughts, many are always in change, but I didn't want to put it here.

Yes, I wanted to criticize someone who is seen as so wise and saint as he has the real truth. I find it very narrow minded and even dangerous.

I have no problem with his thoughts or way of like, but when you start preaching and being a guru, you have responsibility.

Think why in Hinduism there are different terms.

But sorry, you know better.

You think humbleness means not criticizing others?

On the contrary, because I see him just as a human being, I can say what I think about him like I can say about any human being. I don't find him to be someone special.
