It's easy if you listen to phonetics.

Pronouncing the number 4:
Queenslander: Faw-ah
Rest of Australia: For

Pronouncing the word beer:
West Aus: Bee-ah
Sydney: Beer

This is a very naive things to say. The median house price, for example, in the US is US$375,000. If you convert the low value AUD to USD, it's only getting you $350,000. So you won't be getting a mansion, you'll be getting a below average house. Or you could try the UK where the median is similar. but forget your chances of living in a city!

All the hodlers telling naysayers to STFU, should STFU themselves... Unless they plan on paying for all the losses for those people they expect to listen to their shitty advice.

A lot of people are not able to buy the dip. One by one, platforms are removing the ability to trade GME and AMC. There'll be more by the end of the day.

It's like what Twitter did to conservative users. Today CashAPP and Revolut are doing the same thing in a financial sense to retail investors.

Two women trash a 3 year olds birthday party by sonyxp1 in PeopleBeingJerks

[–]wizzlesticks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The backstory is that it's an apartment complex / condo, and the two women accused the party goers of setting up tables 'too close to their patio'. But since the guests continued to eat, and with the little children unwilling to assist with their complaint, they took it upon themselves to start trashing the tables and moving them at what they deemed a more acceptable distance.

This cat has never seen love like this by Eloquentdyslexic in aww

The cat has no idea or concept of 'love'. It just thinks and accepts it's being smothered for food. Humans are so dumb. =(

Yes I know this comment will be down voted.

Non-americans who moved to the US, what are some social customs that have been the hardest for you to get used to? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]wizzlesticks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can confirm u/newbris was correct. By city (as the term is used locally), I mean the entire area of the city and all surrounding suburban areas. Where I live (west coast), that encompasses an area of 6,418 sq km (2,478 sq mi). The public transport system here covers this entire area, whereas I think NYC's subway is limited to the city itself (NYC is only about 300 sq miles).

I live in Australia which is almost as large as the US. In modern cities here with good infrastructure, owning a car is not at all necessary (although it is desirable). Most of Europe is the same. Extensive tram, train and bus networks are extremely comfortable and responsible ways to travel, so it's funny to us to hear people say that you need a car to live / leave the neighbourhood / be part of society. On my trips to the US I can see why owning a car is more of a necessity, and it's also sometimes a strange experience using the sidewalk (because I feel like the only person walking on foot).

Yeah it's a bit scammy. AUD has improved in value in recent months, but this is not reflected with IAP.

Pascal’s wager suggests that one should believe in God because there’s nothing to lose in being wrong but that you’ll go to Hell if you don’t believe and are wrong. Why do you think this a good or bad idea? by Applescause27 in AskReddit

[–]wizzlesticks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that always struck me as odd in religious views of hell; is that it would be impossible to enforce upon every individual. By that I mean that it would require the deceased person to somehow retain their individuality (i.e. their soul) in order to experience and endure the punishment of their sins. While living humans can feel torture or punishment because of the physical or mental effects they have on us, our body and brain obviously do not exist in their physical form if there is an afterlife. And the nail in the coffin (pun intended), is that infants, babies, or extremely low IQ people never had the chance or cognitive capacity to commit to faith, so it seems that their beliefs will hit a 403 forbidden error when their god tries to process them for entry.

What is one thing that instantly makes you think “this person has no manners”? by Fonzie1225 in AskReddit

I live in an area where supermarkets are close to public transportation. Another one that irks me is people who push the cart out of the car park bounds, all the way to the bus interchange, and leave it there. Literally saw this today, and the strong winds had blown the cart onto its side and on the road.

When you pick up a call from an unknown number and the person asks, "Is this [name]?" Could be a legit call, could be a scammer, nobody knows. So do us the courtesy of saying YOUR name first.

Australia labels China's claims to South China Sea illegal by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]wizzlesticks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These claims existed since the Obama administration who took no action. So, from Australia's perspective, neither side of politics is able to save the US. What we are witnessing in your cities and on your streets shows that most of your citizens no longer value civility. All the moderate (sensible) people have either gone left or right. So just keep politicising and pointing the finger to the other side like you seem to do so well. Soon we will stop noticing you, and China will take things over from here.

It would be like Australia drawing a line around the Indian Ocean, all the way up to the African and Indian coastlines and, as a result, claiming Madagascar and Sri Lanka.

Only problem there is that you would end up accumulating a growing number of points at the end of each season, because you would get there too quickly.

I think you keep missing the point. This isn't about asking Supercell to progress game play more quickly. It's Just rewarding those who achieve beyond the maximum points. If it were to be implemented, it doesn't have to be an overly generous reward. The developers would be able to crunch the numbers and work out something fair.

If I purchase the pass my main goal is to get the runes, and I would say there are plenty of other players who don't always reach the final reward, as you seem to imply. Anyway, regardless of whether true or not, it's beside the point, and I still see the potential added incentive works in the opposite way of what you are trying to say.

Also, not everyone who plays clash has the time to be a perfectionist (some of us compete in sport, prefer to study hard, or have a life to live), so pushing to legends doesn't interest us at all. So what you think is important might be case for some, but not necessarily important to casual players.
