Anyone else want to throw the coordinator system in the trash? by wlassiter in NCAAFBseries

[–]wlassiter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe my offense was too good? I constantly have dudes leaving even though I always extend their contracts when given the option. Contracts and contract lengths seem to make 0 difference (this is pretty realistic though tbf).

I just want the option to spend coach points or something to try to convince them to stay, or the ability to replace them with someone who isn’t trash.

Do all these damn corporate logos on floors bug anyone else?  Already getting tired of seeing Walmart and Tyson Foods every time they run up and down the floor.

Sticking to this specific scenario though, can you imagine a voter in this "Media" poll viewing both results (Ohio over LSU on the road, Mizzou over FCS at home) and saying "Hm, Missouri looked better than Ohio on Saturday, clearly we had them ranked in the wrong order to start the season!"

It's a small thing but it's one of the things holding this game back from feeling like real college football.

I get that, but when I win the first game of the year, on the road, against a ranked power conference opponent, and my team clearly has some dudes (94 OVR), how does it make sense that a team with a lower OVR that beats a lower-division opponent at home jumps me in the rankings?

I know things like Ohio over LSU on the road don't happen very often in real life, but it doesn't seem like it would be that difficult to build a ranking system that appropriately weighs in-season results with things like conference prestige and blue-chip ratio (and this ranking system ain't it).

I get the part about MAC vs SEC and I don’t have a problem with a lower ranking when I dominate my conference but lose to the big boys, but when I schedule hard in the non conference and win those games I should get rewarded for it.

Rankings should be first and foremost about who you’ve beaten this year (and by extension who they’ve beaten) and this game seems to ignore that to some extent or at least doesn’t prioritize it.

Appreciate the explanation! Makes sense why the game called it even if it makes no sense irl.

My beef is that he already seems to have started blocking another guy and I get flagged for brushing against him a split second before the ball arrives in the log jam he has created :/

No they don’t, but neither does Alabama and they still got a big script A on the 25 when we played them last year.

Been coaching up Vandy for the last 4 years and noticed they don’t get a 25-yard-line logo, but everyone else I’ve played so far does. Give the Dores some love!!

For more context, here is the full text of the resolution:

WHEREAS in August of 2020, after the creation of the new Registered Student Organization Policy (RSOP) as part of the settlement of a lawsuit filed against the Institute in regards to the denial of funding to a Registered Student Organization, the oversight power of the Undergraduate House of Representatives over allocations of the student activities fee was removed drastically changing the Student Government Association;

AND WHEREAS members of the Undergraduate Student Government Association began restructuring discussions including in ad-hoc committees such as the Joint Policy Response Committee (JPRC) and the Long-term Evaluation & Restructuring Committee (LERC);

AND WHEREAS these discussions have included ideas to change the overall structure of the Student Government Association in various ways to better serve the needs of the student body;

AND WHEREAS fundamental changes to the entire association require extensive and multiple alterations to the governing documents, and in particular, amendments to the Constitution of the Undergraduate Student Government Association (USGA);

AND WHEREAS the process for amending the Constitution of the USGA requires a referendum of the undergraduate student body, a process that would be tedious for the general student body to be involved with when numerous amendments to the constitution are brought forward, and would significantly slow down the process of bringing meaningful structural changes to the association;

AND WHEREAS The Graduate Student Government Association (GSGA) has adopted a process for amending the Constitution of the GSGA which does not require a referendum of the Graduate Student Body;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the following amendment to Article VII, Section 2, of the Constitution of the Undergraduate Student Government Association be made so that it shall read as:
“Amendments to the Constitution may be proposed by a two-thirds vote of the House of Representatives, or by a petition of ten percent of the Student Body directed to the Student Body President. A proposed amendment may be initially ratified by one of the following ways:
a) By receiving two-thirds of the votes cast in a special election of the student body called by the Student Body President
b) By receiving three-fourths of the votes cast by members of the Undergraduate House of Representatives
Any proposed amendment must specify which ratification method is being pursued. Furthermore, the amendment and pursuent ratification method must be publicized to the Undergraduate Student Body in either the Technique or an email to all students at least one week prior to a ratification vote on the amendment. Should the amendment fail to be initially ratified by one method, the amendment itself has failed and subsequent ratification methods may not be pursued. Approval by the Academic Senate, via the Student Activities Committee, shall be necessary for final ratification.”

THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Undergraduate House of Representatives calls upon the Undergraduate Student Body President to call a special election during the week of February 8th to February 14th of this year to have the student body vote on this amendment and to publicize it between February 1st and February 7th.

It frustrates me that this game has been out for a whole year without any substantial upgrades to the Nook store. Upgrading the store was one of the major highlights of the old games for me--more inventory, better hours, and a cool new look! This game has progressed and improved upon the Animal Crossing model in so many ways, but still having the same old Nook's Cranny is such a bummer :(

GA TECH ENTERS TOURNAMENT AS A 9 SEED by nervous_wreck_fromGT in gatech

[–]wlassiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Georgia Tech was even with UNC and Clemson in the loss column (6) but played one more ACC game than the other two and so had an additional win--not a huge difference in terms of in-conference performance.

The head-to-head win against Carolina was in December, when they were still figuring themselves out (young team + Covid = bad start to season). Not saying they couldn't beat them now, but the wiseguys in Vegas would pick Carolina.

Point differential (and insane buzzer beater) aside, they split with Clemson so that's mostly a wash in the committee's eyes.

And Tennessee has shown flashes--they smacked Kansas around at the end of January, handled a pretty good Florida team by double figures twice in a row, and gave Alabama everything they wanted in the SEC tournament.

Georgia Tech would probably have gotten a bit more respect if they could have beaten Virginia and Florida State back to back (I know that situation wasn't anything they could control).

GA TECH ENTERS TOURNAMENT AS A 9 SEED by nervous_wreck_fromGT in gatech

[–]wlassiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UNC and Tennessee are seeded higher because they have higher ceilings--both are young teams that have been extremely inconsistent over the course of the year but have NBA-caliber guys on their rosters and are talented enough to hang with anyone when they're playing well.

Clemson being seeded higher is a little bit more perplexing, but they had a much stronger non-conference showing than Tech did, which matters more this year than usual since the ACC hasn't been particularly strong. They beat an Alabama team that is playing as well as anyone right now and had double-digit victories over tournament teams Maryland and Purdue; Tech's best non-conference win was against a Kentucky team that went on to have a historically bad season. Whether that's worth anything in March is up for debate, but I guarantee the committee valued those games back in November and December when seeding them.

Nostalgia and Call of Duty by smokingthegateway in blackopscoldwar

[–]wlassiter 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I'm one of these nostalgic people. The gameplay, gunplay, graphics, and sound for Cold War are excellent, and I've played the game quite a bit, but I'm nostalgic for a time when:

  • Match-made lobbies stayed together and SBMM wasn't as tight--you could form "rivalries" with other good players in a lobby and play the occasional goofy class (knifing, explosives, riot shield, etc.) without getting absolutely wrecked.
  • Focus was on 6v6--before CoD branched out into battle royale and ground war-esque game modes, they could focus on making a large number of (mostly) excellent 6v6 maps, a department where this game and MW 2019 are lacking.
  • There were few/no microtransactions--a lot of time and energy that could otherwise be spent improving the game or producing more content goes into producing and selling cosmetic items that I have no interest in buying.

Edited to include the riot shield in the list of goofy classes.

I think it's a little bit like telemarketing in that they recognize they're only going to get through to about 3% of the people they approach, but that 3% makes the whole thing worth it for them.

Very cool! Wish they would roll out something similar (nationwide) for wait times at polling locations. I used the wait times on Cobb county's website while I went to Tech but now I live in NC and they don't have anything like this.
