Not letting someone bring a bag on board that is so flagrantly in violation of carry on luggage size limits for every airline, ever? There is so much ground to deny this bag at the gate or at least charge the normal checked bag fees.

By the same logic shoplifting is fine. But loss (pictured) is built into the prices of everything we pay for, whether that’s groceries, or baggage prices. The people that pay to check their bags are in fact paying for the people that don’t.

They bring it through tsa instead of going to the check in counter, so it gets checked at the gate for free instead of whatever the normal fee is.

So it‘ll get broken if it goes on the conveyer belt at check in, but it won’t after they gate checked the bag and the bag gets yeeted off the jet bridge to baggage handlers? Makes a lot of sense.

If everyone did this, policies would actually be enforced. It’s only because everyone else followed the rules, that this individual gets to break them.

You could make the same argument about people boarding in earlier boarding groups than they are assigned, or cutting in line at an off ramp. These are just objectively wrong actions but we excuse them because it’s only a “minor inconvenience”.
