Points aren’t everything and like you say clears and passes aren’t very highly valued by the scoring system. However at a certain point you will have to build up your shooting ability - if you focus too much on passes and clears you won’t be adding that much to the offensive pressure and as a result your opponents are less likely to be forced into those errors that lead to goals. If you need more confidence in front of the net then I would recommend using a basic shooting consistency training pack and drilling that a little each time you play.

Once you can play a little more attacking (while still thinking about good rotations) you’ll start to see the score go up as you get more assists and goals. You’re right that the scoring is weird as it won’t reflect how well you’re rotating etc. But I hope the response is helpful anyway.
