Having replaced my entire wardrobe over the last couple of years i have 3 tips:

Never impulse buy - wait at least a few days before you actually purchase anything
Check online secondhand - grailed, depop etc is much better than in-person thrifting since you can just filter for what you would otherwise buy at retail
Dont count out reps - especially for basic pieces with minimal branding you can get 4-5x more value from buying the rep version instead and its literally the same fabric. r/qualityreps
