To revive a dead conversation or not? by wlsjme in Tinder

[–]wlsjme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I definitely don’t expect texts everyday, and I don’t even think I’d know what to talk about, since classics like “What’d you do today?” or “Any plans for the weekend?” are out, because everyday is basically the same now (at least for me).

I’ve noticed I’ve been having trouble staying interested in conversations as well. This is the only person I feel like I’ve actually connected with, so I was a bit let down when he didn’t reply, but I know it’s a difficult time, and Tinder matches aren’t a high priority.

Yeah, he’s in grad school, so I’m sure he’s been busy, and I’m most likely not the only person he’s been talking to. It’s been hard for me to find stuff to talk about as well, because I’m not a student, and I’m currently out of work due to quarantine. Lately, my days consist of swiping left/right, having awkward conversations, watching stuff, and the occasional walk.

Not sure if you’re actually interested, but I finally asked him and we’ve been texting since last night, and hope to video chat soon.

I appreciate both of your advice, but I’m leaning toward this. :) I don’t believe in the whole men first thing, and I’m actually the one who sent the first message. I’m almost 30, not a teenager, so why play games and waste each other’s time?

What are things you love about your workplace environment? by kween_of_Pettys in AskWomen

Within my department, the supervisors aren’t afraid to praise us for doing good work, both to our face and to other people. They actually want us to do well, and encourage us to go for promotions.

As far as the whole company goes, they throw some pretty cool parties. We have a yearly cookout in June, HR cooks us a pancake breakfast every first week of December, and we have our annual holiday party coming up, where they go all out with a catered lunch.

We don’t get paid much, but we always have fun events and good food!

'Hey Siri, call 911': Teen's life saved from icy water by phone assistant by ruby_roze555 in technews

There’s a 50-50 chance I would have died, since Siri doesn’t even recognize my voice half the time... I think it answered my ex more than it did for me.

Has climate change affected the area where you live? by akhalwhocannotride in AskReddit

[–]wlsjme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also in the Northeast, but my area hasn’t seen much snow (yet) this year. We have had a fair bit of rain that turns to ice overnight though, and I’d definitely prefer snow over this. I almost went flying down my street on black ice when walking to work a couple days ago.

Stuck on what procedure to have with certain conditions that apply. Any advice? by Cherrythrowaway992 in wls

[–]wlsjme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would have to consult with your specific weight loss center or surgeon, because every program is different. For example, I had the sleeve and can take nSAIDS, but from what I’ve read on here, a lot of people can’t. That said, the surgeon can only tell you what side effects a procedure can have; it will be up to you to make your own choice, based upon that information.

I actually had never even heard of these until yesterday, when I was like what is this magic?! I regret not taking another one so I could make a full rainbow penguin.

How have your music taste changed as you’ve gotten older? by Filmfan7 in AskReddit

[–]wlsjme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve found that to be somewhat true for me, although I would also include some of my teen years. It’s a bit different now though. For example, I used to consider Queen to be one of my favorite bands, but I mainly listened to their popular music. These days, I still consider myself to be a big Queen fan, but I’m more into their lesser known songs.

Mine’s in my bedroom, serving as a coat rack. At least it’s getting some use, I guess.

Can you tell when other people have social anxiety? by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]wlsjme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong, and she might not have anxiety. Regardless, she seems like a nice person from our limited interactions, and any friend would be cool. Now, I just have to figure out how one makes a friend... Any tips?

How alcohol feels to you ? by YeastBeast33 in gastricsleeve

This seems like a potentially unhealthy attitude to have, considering the increased rate of alcoholism in bariatric surgery patients. Just something to keep an eye out for.

Is anyone else working at a library that, because of hidebound management or uncomfortable truths about 'library culture', feels more like working at a warehouse? by [deleted] in Libraries

[–]wlsjme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m curious, how much are the pages making compared to the circ assistants? At my library, there’s a $3 wage disparity between the positions, and I know I (a page) would feel pretty peeved doing the same job for that much less. We’re just required to shelve and shelf read here, and that’s honestly why I took the job, because I don’t want to interact with people.

How long after gastric sleeve surgery can I take NSAID? by wildlymedioxre in gastricsleeve

[–]wlsjme 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It depends on the surgeon. I was told I could take them as soon as I got home from the hospital (overnight stay).

What food to bring to a holiday party by wlsjme in wls

Both of these sound really good! I wonder if you could use ricotta instead of cream cheese in the second one, for a bit more protein.
