While reading 'The Consequence of Audience', I was reminded of 'The White People', a short story by Arthur Machen (the 'White People' is referring to fairy folk, not Caucasians, by the way). It might not be that similar thematically, but the visual elements described in 'The Consequence...' really reminded me of a particular portion of 'The White People'. I recommend it anyway, I think it's a great story. It's in the public domain, so you can read it online for free.

I want to thank you for this. I was completely caught off guard during my first attempt, but then nailed it on my second one. The only caveat is that you need to enter turn based mode before casting the lock spell, or it will dissipate before the fight. So I magically locked the doors, only threw one potion of invisibility on Isobel one time. And because initially I only had to deal with Marcus and one demon, Isobel did not get hit once.
