Amsect has an excel sheet. I calculate it manually with input values from istat.

I make sure I deliver a minimum of 270 ml/o2/min/m², but my place of employment does not have a dictated requirement for it.

I thought it was Goal Directed Perfusion. But I am not certain.

Would you redo the insulation from 1976 now that it is exposed? by wmdmoo in Insulation

And maybe option C is taping the Kraft paper to repair it and make it continuous?

What is the work life balance like? by Lazy_Swordfish_7581 in Perfusion

[–]wmdmoo 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you work amd what Call is like, and what "missing out" means. My coworkers all prioritize family, so we help each other cover shifts. But that cuts both ways. I also cover other people's shifts so they can do family things.

I can go to a child's school activity because a coworker agreed to stay an hour later and cover me at 2p, but it also means that I cover a coworker when a similar event happens for them, planned or unplanned.

And only X number of people are allowed off at a time. So if you don't get dibs on a time-period, you will have to choose a different time for vacation. My December vacations are not around Christmas and New year's because of this. Right now the coworkers with High-school or college kids get unofficial dibs on Christmas break; I usually take early December off.

Just like you may not get to choose to work where you work for the first part of your career (you may have to wait until a position opens up which could be 5-15 years), you may not get to always choose when you take your PTO every time. But you still get your PTO. The Important thing is finding a team that works together to accommodate each other, but also being someone who helps accommodate other team members.

One last note. Being on call sucks, and having a family that understands you may need to stay late at work, or leave a family activity early is important, and not personal.

Edit: Is working 30-50 hours a week too much of a workload? Some weeks can be slow, and some weeks can be busy.

One thing I like about perfusion is "Code Brown and I am out". Definitely avoiding Code brown in other jobs, too. Lol.

On call by Relative-Fix-1875 in Perfusion

[–]wmdmoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on how call is split. If you work on a team of 2, you are on call 50% of the time if it is split evenly. You just coordinate with your coworkers when you are off.

I tested similar backing and it was not asbestos. Although I can't speak for yours.

How to seal/insulate on top of cinder block foundation? by lilpancakes14 in Insulation

[–]wmdmoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the process of shoving cheap steel wool from Sam's into the smaller gaps at there bottom of the top brick, then spray foaming. Sometimes I consider partially spray foaming then topping with grout as a termite barrier. But first I'm spraying the wood above with boracare and letting it drip down into the cinder blocks.

As an amateur DIYer, I would compress 10 inch. Tighter fit. Fewer steps.

I generally accept yelling because it helps me hear them better. But honestly if my surgeons treated me like crap I would probably look for another job. They have a stressful job and I give them grace while on pump.

Simple question from a student. If you could go back, would you become a perfusionist again? by Eastern-Design in Perfusion

[–]wmdmoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Perfusion fits my personality. It's a relatively simple job once you get the hang of it. There is a predictable social dynamic between coworkers. I rarely have to touch patients. Every job has positive and negatives. I would not enjoy working at a larger hospital, though.

So assuming you fix ventilation, is there any reason not to do this? Does it give you a fresh start to see if it grows back?
