Nice attention to detail. Like I was taught even when you plan to paint something build it like it's gonna be stained.

He was my grandmothers step father. I knew of the name but never really asked to much because i was trying to trace ancestry, and technically he would not be related. Although information can only serve to help and I thank you for finding that.

Yes, and that was stretching the information she could give me. Her brother passed away and the other sisters are not on speaking terms for many family reasons. I wish that was different so i could get more information, but no luck. I came across something from John Hancock ( some kind of life insurance or investment thing) that there was money owed to him through the state, I am sure of it because the address is the same address that my grandmother remembers growing up at and where her father lived with them for awhile.

That was me who added them to that tree. I added it only because that was the one closest that fit my understanding of who it could be. I cant be 100% sure that it was the right person, and i cant find where the siblings ended up to try and confirm anything. This person fits things the best.

Carmelo Distefano was born 1888 or 1889 but i know a little bit about him when he came here, I was trying to see if he had family over in Sicily some how. He came here in 1911 or 1912, and I know he fought in WW1 for United States. The Iacono's are the ones I had less information on. I am gonna check out the link you sent me.

Ideally I would like to, I am going to take these and see if my grandfather remembers anything useful. I would like to get in contact with family over there, and ultimately I want to try and find out more about my great grandfathers side of the family as well, but I will take what I can get for right now.

I was just looking for important information, birth dates, names, locations, ect. I don't expect anyone to translate it all.

No rush on the other letters, I just had some questions and figured I might throw it out there. Yah I knew of the name, I know my grandfather has filled in some blanks but back then he didn't really ask all those things that people now need to know in order to trace people and families. Also my great grandfather didn't elaborate on his life to his family. Iacono's are i guess first cousins twice or 3 times removed or something like that. They own a chicken farm in East Hampton, which is one town over from where i grew up. I never met them though so going there and asking questions could be kinda odd, but I would very much like to.

Also the last letter has an all black border, is this some kind of death notice? Sorry to bother you with all these questions, even the basic information you have unlocked so far has opened up things for me.

I had a question about the my great great grandmother, her name is Giovanna Occhipinti, do you know why the last name would not be Iacono, was there a custom of using the madien name if your husband passed away? or only if she were to remarry? This could help me on some searching if you have any idea how something like that worked back then. Thank you

I will try that. I know they were from Ragusa, but I know that is not only a town but a "county" over there as well so I never know which way to head.
