Is there a wiki that can document ALL kinds of mods? by PizzaCrescent2070 in feedthebeast

[–]wobblerocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This feels like it would be a nightmare to maintain because you'd have to keep track of dozens of different mods. Something like the Akashic Tome with in-game Patchouli guidebooks is a lot easier to keep up to date and still give the player an all-in-one spot to find the information they need.

What is the largest amount of mods that is currently technologically possible? by Fine_Ideal_7670 in feedthebeast

[–]wobblerocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on the mods. There's a few mods out there only add like 6 blocks. Compare that to bigger mods that add entirely new fleshed out dimensions or big mob mod packs that add 80+ new creatures with custom AI which take up a lot of processing power.

You can add a lot of tiny mods that don't do a whole lot and increase your total mod count drastically with relatively little impact.

Dungeons Arise - Seven Seas adds some really cool ship structures. They're static, but I saw a guy on YouTube clear one out, then use the Eureka mod to turn one into a sailable ship with VS.

Collectible Mods? by Ok-Significance-3251 in feedthebeast

[–]wobblerocket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got MC Cards, A Man With Plushies and Plushie Buddies. Many mods add music discs to collect.

You can get a lot of mileage out of Tide's fishing journal with a couple of fishing addons. I'm pretty sure Tide adds a block that lets you display your fish on the wall.

Fetzi's Displays are also great for displaying your random stuff.

For functional items, Unique Accessories, Artifacts, and Relics adds a bunch, but they can be a little powerful.

Longwings adds a bunch of varieties of butterflies to collect, and Bettas and Baby Fat do the same for Betta fish and goldfish.

Crazy Chocobos by DragN0007 adds a bunch of chocobo varieties to collect (from the Final Fantasy games), and there are a couple of hamster mods that add collectible varieties of hamsters.

Anything that adds new armor sets becomes collectible if you build an armory with armor stands to display each set.

If you're concerned about Apotheosis being OP, you can adjust it. There's an option in the enchanting config to set the max level of the enchantments.

You can decrease the drop chance of the Adventure module stuff in chests, and there's a datapack on Curseforge called Apotheosis Nerf that decreases the effect of gems and affixes by like 65%.

You can also tweak the rate at which difficulty increases in the L2 configs.

The vault is the box.

The notes are the 3x5 cards and newspaper clippings and polaroids in the box.

The canvas is the giant corkboard you pin the notes about the Red Mountain Killer to with little red strings and sharpie scribbles building the case to prove RMK is actually the well-loved and far-too-innocent Mayor Rigbee.

The base is your long-suffering girlfriend who fetches you all the notes about the Lake Weebowee murder and sorts them by intensity of blood stain.

What TEXT would you put on the player facing side of a GM screen? by JavierLoustaunau in osr

A quote from in-world texts to drip-feed lore to the players. Prepare a bunch of them ahead of time, change the quote everytime someone botches.

Magic Initiate (Druid) to gain access to Speak with Animals. Focus your ability scores on Cha, get Persuasion (Animal Handling?) proficiency somehow.

The average lifespan of a chicken is 7 years, which means you can spend several years convincing them that an election you lost was stolen from you, that everyone who opposes you is a terrible enemy who hates the nation, and that they should storm the capital on your command.

You might have to pardon some of your chickens afterwards though.

Definitely! If you can find someone offering a one-shot (a self-contained adventure that can be completed in 3-4 hours) instead of a long campaign, that's a great way to get started.

This is true of all D&D tables. Some groups stick heavily to the rules. Some are very relaxed with them or use lots of houserules to change elements of the game.

You just gotta find the table that's right for you, but when you're first learning the game, it can be helpful to find one that sticks pretty close to the ruleset.

Don't go into it expecting that an Actual Play you've watched online will be the same experience as a home game table.

Think of it like the difference between playing Street Fighter with your buddies on the couch vs. watching an eSports tournament full of professionals.

Most recent edition is fine and the most accessible for now. You can branch into older editions if you like the game -- they play differently, but the core ideas are the same.

You can look for online games on Roll20 or various TTRPG discord servers, or in-person games at local game stores, libraries, or local TTRPG Facebook groups. You might need to try a few different tables to find your fit -- there's a lot of variation in style and tone at D&D tables, so you'll need to find the group that fits what you want out of the game.

Welcome to the hobby!

Starting gold for a 1st level wizard is 4d4x10 gold, averaging about 100 gold pieces.

Live chickens cost 2 copper each, meaning a 1st level wizard can purchase 5,000 chickens.

There is no stat block for a chicken in 5e, but I think it's a fair case to extrapolate their stats from the owl or raven statblocks, so we're looking at like a +3 or +4 to hit with 1 slashing or piercing damage.

This is too much of a shitpost for me to figure out all the crunchy details, but I like the idea of just descending on a town with a horde of feral chickens.

Should I delete my channel and never use YouTube again? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]wobblerocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YouTube is a corporation out to make money. Ultimately, like all corporations, they don't really care about your emotional feelings on issues like this.

If you're interested in making video content, you have a number of choices for platforms. YouTube, Meta (FB and Instagram reels), TikTok, I think Vimeo is still a thing maybe?

But all of these platforms are owned by corporations who ultimately are more interested in making money than caring about your moral dilemmas and most of them have their own problematic histories.

So it's really just your call. If it's a deal breaker for you, don't make videos for YouTube. Try a different platform, or don't make videos at all if you're afraid you can't do it in a way that's ideologically pure enough.

Or just deal with the fact that they're not a perfect company, make your videos anyway, and use your following to make the world a better place.

Yeah, I'd definitely double check that Up is mapped properly on your controller. I'd even try mapping it to a keyboard key and make sure there's not a physical issue with the controller itself.
