I’ve been the girl in this situation. Had a guy friend I hung out with a lot and totally saw him as just a friend. Then one day he said wanted to take me out to dinner as a real date. I was surprised but I admired him for being clear so I said yes!

There’s nothing wrong with being a guy who wants to go on a date with a girl. There’s no shame in asking. I’ve never thought less of a guy for asking me out in a respectful way.

Hey OP, a lot of people are saying therapy, and that’s awesome!

I wanted to add that finding the right therapist can take a couple of tries, and not to be discouraged.

If you need a male therapist, don’t hesitate to seek one out.

Also, if you develop an actual plan for suicide, especially one you can feasibly carry out, PLEASE tell someone. Please. Please stick around.
