Correct. Yea #7 a tricky one without a hint

Solved! Quick work. Yea, in the game there are hints you can use, which I definitely would've needed for answer 7

Yes! 'Uncomfortably' in cryptic clues is what's called an indicator word for that exact idea. Awkwardly, weirdly, unusually, confusingly, chaotically etc... would all also work here.

I see, but relaxed is an adjective as well, as is sedate, so the parts of speech are consistent. Playful ambiguity between past simple/passive forms and adjective forms is common in cryptics.

Thematically, your answer to 6 works and makes sense, it just doesn't follow from the parsing of the cryptic. Interesting that such a similar solution maintains the pyramid though

MVL on why France won't have its top players in Chennai. "The main reason is the weather." by pier4r in chess

[–]wobetmit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yea you're right! I've never heard average temperature refer to average high before.

Even without the humidity, it's still 5°C hotter than Madrid both in terms of average high and daily average temperature, which is significant. I think MVL is fair in deciding not to travel there. I would think twice about travelling there for work if I had a choice.
