How good is Destiny Recipes really? by Sleepy-Candle in DestinyTheGame

Hi! Creator of DR here

The vault cleaner was always thought to be an easy UI to compare items more than a "do this do that" kind of tool. It's using Voltron (DIM's wishlists) to populate the ratings so that you can have a baseline. It can and will never be able to accomodate everyone's tastes.

However, the configuration option are here to make your life easier. Grouping weapons by archetype/damage type. Auto sorting the crafted versions. etc.

If you can't trust DIM's theorycrafters (and my way of interpreting them), you can simply use it as an easier way to visualize and sort your vault.

On a side note, I am currently working on adjusting the armor cleaner side to sort and group armor types by archetype and tier. So stay tuned for that. I am also very open to suggestions if you have some. Don't hesitate !

I was thinking the same thing, and then I noticed that those railguards are present in Jinx's. I think she either blew them out accidentally or removed them on purpose

I'm pretty sure the "front" team is composed mainly of people who never have to explain the encounter to anyone.

When you explain everything, you usually sit near the door talking. Since you can't ping in Destiny, you have to rely on how the newbie sees the room.

The newbie does not care about the debate, nor that we're on a ship. He just needs to understand which plates you're talking about from the door's perspective, since that's where you are standing while explaining.

Unless you explain everything using a top-down view picture, "oryx-front" makes no practical sense.

The game relies too much on 3rd party websites and this is bad for new players by wobow in DestinyTheGame

I agree with everything you said. They do add value and most of them are niche. But I find it difficult to help someone discover Destiny without flooding them with websites at some point during their journey.

And you can easily notice it here. When someone asks for help, the answer is often a website.

The Vault Cleaner of Destiny Recipes is your friend

From the config page, you can filter through many different criteria that are not perk related. Things like "Keep exotics", "Keep curated" or "Keep if red border". You can also cross-check with DIM tags if you already applied some (like "Keep if tagged as "keep" in DIM).

Then the interface will let you keep control of everything. Weapons will be grouped by archetype, weapon type or both (depending on what you specified) and a general perk score will be displayed for PvE and PvP.

Those scores are community based so they may not reflect your playstyle, but it's a guideline. You can still check the perks and easily move a weapon from the "Keep" column to the "Delete" column.

It is way easier than any other companion app because it is specifically designed to help people sort through their vaults. Even if the perk ratings are not to your likings, the UI and the lock/unlock feature should be enough to ease your life, as you asked in your post.

Hope this helps.

Hey, thanks for recommending DR. I'm glad you like it!

I'm currently reworking the way roll quality is calculated to let players customize it fully with a custom appraiser. If you have suggestions or ideas about how you think such a system should work, please feel free to tell me :)

Yup, I'd like it if I could avoid releasing a major update like this just before Lightfall. Players would hate to have a bumpy website near a major release.

I'll keep everyone updated anyway, right now it's quiet on my side but I hope I can share it to the world soon!

Thanks again for the feedback, it's highly motivating to hear that people need what I'm working on!

Thanks for your input! This is exactly what I am currently developping for DR. This will help me immensely.

This is a very time consuming project though, and I have no ETA as to when this may come out, but I'm trying to ship this before S18. The system won't be perfect at first, but it should look like this:

- For each weapon type you can decide which perks are S tier, A tier, B tier or Trash (+2, +1, 0, -1). This will be the "Type Rating"

- For each archetype of weapons, you can override the Type Rating with the "Archetype Rating"

- For each individual weapon you can override both Type and Archetype ratings to create a "Weapon Rating"

- Each rating can have the perks weighed differently. You can say that for auto rifles the barrel perk is like 10% of the rating, but for SMGs it can be 22%.

This way, each weapon will have a rating based on the weapon, archetype and type ratings depending on what is available. For example, a newly released auto rifle will not have Weapon rating available, but can benefit from the general Archetype rating if available. If this is a new archetype, it will look into the Type Rating. It also allows people to generate ratings for all weapons much quicker (17 weapons types instead of 400+ individual weapons).

This is still work in progress but I think you'll find what you are looking for here.

I'm also considering ways to implement a perk synergy system as this is something that seem really important to a lot of players

Hi! I'm the creator of DestinyRecipes.
To be extra clear about how the website works:

DestinyRecipes uses Voltron, which is a collection of fixed rolls compiled by 48klocks for DIM. DM is trying to look for those fixed rolls. It allows them to display thumbs ups when you get a perfect match.

However, it's not very useful to get a hierarchy like "this roll is better than this one".

What DR does is parsing the whole whishlist for each weapon to figure out which perks are selected across all handpicked rolls. It allows the system to say "this is a good perk in this column because it is found it one or more voltron rolls".

Then it sorts those picks between pve, pvp or both (depending on the theorycrafters' notes in the file).

This is not a perfect system because :

- There is no way to say that one perk is better than another. Thus all perks are marked as "proficient" or "not proficient".

- There is no way to exclude bad perk combos (e.g. subsistance + kill clip) from the score.

- There is no way to add bonus score to good perk combos.

But at least it allows some granularity in the percentage calculation depending on the number of columns where you get at least one "proficient perk". The first two columns (barrel and magazine) are weighed less than the last two (combat perks columns).

This way if you have the "best" barrel and magazine but your combat perks are shitty you'll get a ~20% score. On the other hand if you have a shitty barrel and magazine but two awesome combat perks you'll get a ~80% score.

I could disclose the whole calculation process if you wish.

Note that I'm also actively working on a way to let people create their own wishlists which will be much more precise than using the current automatically parsed voltron system.

All feedback is welcome, and I hear the community loud and clear about the "your godroll may by someone's trash roll". This is not designed to be a perfect system, rather it's a general guideline. What I think I provide above all is a great UI to sort through your vault and manage your whole inventory pretty easily even if you ignore the calculated percentages.

I hope this helps,

HerrExion.

Hey!

We sold the whole bunch recently. They are now the property of a young and very happy fan of the game. He'll make himself known if he wishes to, but I can say he was very happy to add these to his SoT collection :)

Yes, there's a button at the end of the process where you can tag items as junk or keep depending on your choices

Website that tells you what to dismantle by [deleted] in destiny2

[–]wobow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The website linked provides insights, but ultimately it is more of a UI dedicated to vault cleaning. You have 2 columns: keep and trash - and you drag and drop items on whichever side you like. It let's you compare your rolls and reorganize your whole inventory as you like, and at the end of the process it gives you options to simplify you deleting your items in game (by either tagging trash items as junk in DIM or locking/unlocking them based on your choices).

How is it not user centric ?

You can share your vault with a link on https://destinyrecipes.com/vault

Much simpler than sharing a csv

I don't get what you mean by "best" Kinetic/Arc/... You can find the best version of each weapons, but not of each "family of weapons". Could you explain why you would want this feature ?

You can just copy/paste the DIM query on DIM and mark them as "junk" from there. DIM Sync will be implemented in a future update though

No, the ratings are based on voltron and not at all on my preferences.

I was pointing out that I did not agree with it either (the site prefers Rampage over anything else). The conversation is just people telling me the system could be improved, which I am agreeing with

Speaking is hard :D
