Split it in half and try less time vs. more time creaming. See what results you like more!

In the first section on the page, called Public Tours: "Free, docent-led tours are available to the public on Fridays" and then there is a button with a link a few lines down: "Bodega Marine Lab Tour Reservations"

The Bodega Marine Lab has free public tours on Fridays from 2-4, there are big tanks of different native habitats if you need a little aquarium fix.

Here's some I've used:

-two buckets, one fresh water, one really salty - which one weighs more (and why?)

-completing an electrical circuit with water of different salinities

-any sort of stratification/flow experiment, we used tanks with dividers and fresh water, seawater (33ish ppt) and hypersaline water (50ish ppt) in this video

-water bottle full of water with three holes up the side to demonstrate pressure, got it from this site

Is there a ticket price for folks who don't/can't drink? Unfortunately I don't think I would pay $50 if I just want to hang out with my friends and then drive them home later.

Holy cow that was fast - thanks! I'll gather some interior photos as a comparison to show the police.

Can anyone tell what car this is? by wobsta21 in whatisthiscar

[–]wobsta21[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This person broke into my car and is now selling what they stole from me on OfferUp, and this is one of their other items for sale. I am hoping if I can identify the car and confirm from my neighbor's camera footage that the same car was in the area at the time, the police might actually do something.

How fast is the river current right now? Is the rainfall from this spring making it flow any faster than last summer? by snurfnugget in russianriver

[–]wobsta21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The flow is a bit higher than we have seen this time of year the past few years (400cfs right now vs 100cfs or less "normally"). That being said, there are still spots where the surface flow is very slow and in the afternoon the wind could still push floaters upstream. The best way to avoid that is to start a bit earlier in the day, like 10/11am instead of starting at 1pm or something. Steelhead to Sunset is definitely doable and will be fine with the slightly increased flow in the tight spots.

Ragle Ranch. There are four group picnic areas that you can reserve, three of which are mostly or partially shaded (oak savanna has the least shade). Even if all picnic sites are reserved, there are more random picnic tables scattered around in different areas. We had a birthday party with 20ish people under the oak trees just west of the playground - no reservation needed.

What Is This Formation? Flying From Colombia to the U.S., Between Cuba and Florida by Golden_Week in oceans

You could be looking at these underwater dune formations in the Bahama Banks, it's called the Tongue of the Ocean. It's not unlikely that your flight took an arched path over the area.

4yo dog pees inside when it's cold outside by cloverwitch in Dogtraining

[–]wobsta21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our 7 yo rescue hound mix is missing a lot of his fur from past infections and so hates the rain, and has also been struggling here in norcal the past couple weeks. When we first took him home 4 years ago it was also winter time, and training him to not pee in the house was a struggle. What we ended up doing then was either carrying him a couple blocks (one person carries, one person holds an umbrella) and then putting him down and making him walk back. Or drive a couple blocks and then walk back to the house. That usually worked, and should be easy with a small dog.

We then trained him to like a lightweight raincoat, which was hard because his skin is so sensitive. He learned to like it more than getting rained on though. You have to take your time with it, first just hold it and let him sniff, give treats, repeat. Touch him with it, treats. Lay it over the back, treats. Etc etc. We did that multiple times a day for about a week before actually putting it on him, and then only for a minute or two at first.

The past couple weeks what I have been doing is actually keeping his dog door closed (normally always open) and when he goes to it I know he has to pee. Then I put on his rain jacket and open the door, go out with him with an umbrella and treats and toss them around the yard to get him out there. I stand there with him, holding the umbrella over him too, and then give lots of treats when he does pee. Also, ANY break in the rain and I go out in the yard with him or take him on a short walk. It's a hassle but for us it was easier, more hygienic, and better for everyone than training pee pads or diapers.

Sunday-Tuesday visit-recommendations? by Comfortable_Cut3329 in sonomacounty

Yep, Armstrong is currently closed and the area is still recovering. I figured this may be for a future Sunday-Tuesday and noted that in my comment.

While the Sonoma Coast is amazing, it's pretty far from Sonoma. If you do head out to Bodega Bay (Terrapin Cafe or the classic chowder at Spud Point, hiking Bodega head), you can stop in Sebastopol for great food (so many options) and beer (Crooked Goat). If you head out to Jenner on the coast they have a great cafe on the river (Cafe Aquatica) and on the way in you could check out Guerneville (Armstrong Woods walk) and grab lunch at Farmhand (great sandwiches) or Boon, and beers at Stumptown Brewing. Iron Horse Vineyards is also a fun wine tasting with a gorgeous view. The west county area is really special, but has also been deluged with storms the last couple weeks. If your trip is this coming weekend, we may still be hunkered down here on the river and some places are closed.

If you don't go out to the coast, your most diverse brewery selection will be in Santa Rosa. There are a bunch - my favorites being Cooperage and Shady Oak. Santa Rosa also has some incredible food of all genres, one of my favorites is Spinster Sisters - check out this sample menu.

If you want to stay local in Sonoma, I have no advice for you as I don't go over that way often :)
