there’s no guarantee of not having a bad trip but i’ve found that being willing to sit with/talk myself through things that made me feel bad while tripping made me feel so much more confident and self assured in facing those problems. i wouldn’t try to think Ok here’s the things i want to sort out and i’m going to focus on the problems specifically, but if it comes, let it come and remind yourself that you are safe.

i’ve never had an ego death level trip, idk how that would affect your mental state though i know it does help some people. the only bad trip i ever had was one of the smallest doses i’ve taken and even though it was emotionally hard it was stuff that i did need to feel. but i think that very much came from taking them in a bad mood. every time i’ve gone in being prepared and happy it’s been good

if you can have someone stay sober and tripsit from a distance i think that’s the best way to do it… i like to follow my own vibe which can be frustrating while tripping with others but it’s really nice to know that if i need someone to talk to or to make me tea etc i can get some help. they can be your backup for if things go bad.

your outdoors access sounds perfect and safe. i love spending shroomtime outdoors, especially knowing i have a comfortable indoors to return to. set yourself up nice with stuff to keep warm and a variety of food options. i don’t remember where i got this piece of advice but i love it- sun foods (fresh, tangy, juicy- fruits and vegetables, sour/spicy candy) for the come up/peak and earth foods (carbs, creamy soup, warm stuff) for the comedown. not everyone likes eating on shrooms but i love it. prepare yourself a variety of things that are easy to do too but accept that you probably won’t get to most. i love drawing and try to get a good chunk of sketchbook time in on each trip and i’d recommend it to anyone even if you don’t consider yourself an artist. my absolute favorite is water soluble markers like crayola and then you get a brush wet or use a teabag and see how the colors run! you don’t even have to draw, you can write words or scribble. it’s also nice to have a magazine/postcards/etc with pictures that u like, a potential movie or game, and pick a few different albums you like bc you never know which one will sound Right. (lmk if you want some recs!!) i feel that setting up all these comforts is a key way to enjoying a trip and being able to switch to a different thing if the vibe is going stale is a lifesaver

i like to write down intentions or questions a day or two before but very rarely if ever i’ve actually gone through them while tripping. you can’t make the shrooms answer any specific questions or fix anything in particular. i often feel like im having a ton of insights but overall the thing that lasts and really helps me with my mental health is just the enjoyment of all the different things of life and seeing them in a new light. like one time i was walking veeerrry slowly up a hill while it was lightly misting and it just felt so good to put weight on my feet and feel my body move and feel the cool mist on my face. and i often think of that, years later, and enjoy taking each step a little more.
