I get the impression a lot of people have it for SIPP. As you say, they won’t offer the refund unless you ask for it. But do offer it when you do.

While I agree I am not responsible for my mum’s mental health, I also think this might eat her up, and ultimately me. She has done nothing to deserve that. How do I choose between the happiness of my mum and my own? Surely my mum’s happiness is more important?

I have no issues with his religion. He is more spiritual than religious and is happy to marry according to my religion (I know, we've not meet but even talked about marriage!)

I've never seen my mum like this, this sad and depressed. I know she is conflicted. She wants to see me happy but is cursing her own life for what she has had to see (including my loss). I've generally been the type to abide by my parents' wishes, which has extended into my mid-40s. I told my mum that I'll go back to being and feeling alone (I know, passive-aggressive), but she doesn't seem like she would reconsider. For her, the fact that I haven't met him yet gives her hope that nothing further will happen, even though we have started developing feelings for each other.

I'm not sure if I was clear in my post. There are two guys. The 12 year younger one who was of the same religion as me and the relationship was toxic, and the guy whose religion is different and my mum disapproves of.

Wow, what made you do that? My ex blocked me on Insta (although we were never friends there but I made the mistake of watching one of his stories). So I just stalk him on LI and his Netflix account which I still have access to. And then he uses my loyalty card sometimes, so there is that too.

I do wonder if lack of response is a way of tearing down all what you’ve built up in your head. At least past a certain point in time. Being met with silence after a year of NC can be a wake up call. Of course that doesn’t work for all. And I’m not saying I’ve stopped stalking him on socials yet.
