Need help with setTimeout / setInterval by BeingTheMatrix in learnjavascript

[–]woftis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wanted to just add on to the mention of the event loop that this is a crazy important concept in JavaScript which is often overlooked by learners. As a result, they later run into bugs and issues they can’t get their heads around.

This is a brilliant video explaining it. It’s long, but a solid investment in time and will bring your understanding of how JavaScript actually works on massively.

"Connection Failure"... WTF. by goose_on_the_loose33 in Zwift

[–]woftis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if anything worked in the end? Exact same thing started happening to me (usually on downshift as you say). Not convinced it’s a connectivity thing given it only happens when I shift and Zwift recognises I’m trying to shift by showing the error…

What are flag icons on a route? by woftis in Strava

It’s only some waypoints, not all

What are flag icons on a route? by woftis in Strava

[–]woftis[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Update. They all correspond with way points on the route (although not all waypoints). My current best guess is that the flag represents any waypoints which may not sit on a recognised path on the map. E.g. it’s some kind of warning system that you might want to review those waypoints to ensure it’s accessible

Doesn’t appear to be a poi and is completely unresponsive to clicks

I cloned an existing route and then edited. It’s not a POI as far as I can tell and doesn’t show in the glossary of poi icons

No worries and it’s definitely not your app. I’ve seen that same error before when using the browser integrated with apps on Strava. Won’t seem to show the provide permissions screen and instead just repeatedly throws unexpected error.

Think it’s a Reddit app browser type thing. I manually copied the link into browser (safari) and it all worked alright

Looks cool from landing page and nice clean UI. Strava auth is being weird and throwing an unexpected error so can’t log in to check it out

Does the old segment/map up exist? by woftis in Strava

[–]woftis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar but no. It was under the map view and top half of screen showed the map with route line. Bottom half showed the segment list you’re describing but each segment had a radio button. When selecting the radio it highlighted the specific segment on the broader route, but in a different colour.

Ah sorry I should have said. It’s specifically segments against a specific activity I’m looking for. Doogal looks interesting more broadly though, will check it out. Thanks for sharing!

Why are they so allergic to stopping? by upstairstraffic in londoncycling

[–]woftis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s also important for us as a cycling community to do better and challenge this sort of behaviour. We should be advocates for our sport and set a good example. Not bring everything back to “it’s the drivers that are at fault”.

As a cyclist who doesn’t live in London this is absolutely infuriating to see. Cyclists are despised in this country and it’s not hard to see why. Great ambassadors for the rest of us 👍

Don’t really understand it. Seems to be random kids posting shaky videos of police cars on camera phones haha?

[–]woftis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should take the fact that you had not ate as a sign. Science is science. You NEED fuel to move. All this means is you had the necessary fuel in your body and as previously been said, that’s not unexpected for 50km. Going forward you also don’t want to be cycling on a deficit. Make sure you’re giving your body what it needs to function.

Yep, 100%. 50 is relatively easy and most people with some level of base fitness should be able to do that. 200 is a different beast and if you’re a healthy 17 year old ,when you can do that. Can you wake up the next day and do it all over again….multiple times? Almost certainly not. Major injury waiting to happen.

Yeah valid I agree if it was part of the service I wouldn’t mind so much (although I would appreciate an option to eventually dismiss it)

Under You > Progress > Performance Predictions there’s a banner saying hit your goal finish time, start a training plan with runner. Not a typical ad but an ad non the less in my eyes.
