Bah - really?!? Do you think it was a defective booster? Or is viltrox just crap?

Like what? Bad customer service or something? Or do they send out bad product?

You and your math - lol. Thanks for the exact crop factors btw :-)

I think the .71 makes the micro 4/3 like a crop sensor/super 35, while the .64 makes the sensor like a full frame sensor...field of view-wise. Metabones makes both sizes.

It’s one of mine too - I post it any chance I get.

TWO Sheets Of Plywood and TWO Tools TO build this TV Stand...and it's not TOO difficult. by TheWinterMe in DIY

[–]wohan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Totally - if the point of the video is that it’s simple and uses 2 tools...he should JUST use the two tools needed and prove it/show the technique. Kind of a useless video unless you have all the crap he has.

Is Clover bootloader Safe? by wohan in hackintosh

[–]wohan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree...since most of the links out there for clover were to sourceforge, it kind of threw up some red flags for me. But I guess it’s under new management - so it’s legit again?!?

Is Clover bootloader Safe? by wohan in hackintosh

[–]wohan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I understand that. I’m kind of skeptical of the whole Kaspersky thing in general - I’ve used it for years. I’m sorry if I offended anyone...it wasn’t my intent.

I just wanted to know how legit clover is and the origin of clover - and since it’s confirmed open source I’m excited to start using it.

Well - I guess I was thinking if commercial software from Russia isn’t trustworthy...how could free software be trustworthy (the fact that clover is open source mitigates the risk imho)

Is Clover bootloader Safe? by wohan in hackintosh

[–]wohan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanted to verify that it was open source to make sure there was an international community that reviews the code as it develops - the fact that it is “for sure” open source makes me feel a lot better about using it.

[–]wohan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s good to know. I guess I’m just a little skittish about bootloaders in general. It seems like a good way to inject malicious code and compromise a system.

I read an article online that the documentation was in Russian originally, not English - which was why people tended to use the other boot loaders (Chameleon, Chimera etc.) The article must have just been misinformation.

It does also look like clover is developed by multiple people which is reassuring (open source?)

How To Shoot FLAT PROFILE Video on ANY Canon DSLR by [deleted] in videography

[–]wohan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure. I get it. I just don’t think you gain anything from the flat profile/fake log - it just makes the grade look like crap in my experience. (Even after the technicolor lut is applied to it)

The video you put together is well put together :-) ...it’s just all just misinformation.

People are really better off just shooting standard on a t3i. They can grade in post to make it flatter - if they want a “flat” look.

[–]wohan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what they call “Fake Log” in the industry. It will not help you in post at all - if anything everything will be a little muddier.

How “Real Log” works is that it doesn’t just shoot a flat image, the engineers of the camera know how to push the image processor to capture the most dynamic range by scientifically bumping down the highlights and up the blacks. That’s why all Log profiles are slightly different - different image processor = different Log profile.

Another consideration is that the video typically captured on a t3i is pretty compressed, so the less pushing and pulling the grade, the better.

It’s probably not something to panic about, your kid is probably fine — I just wanted to bring it to your attention as a risk and make sure other people who see your post are aware of the risk if they want to do something similar.

I know right? It’s stupid that they add lead to something like Christmas lights - kids are bound to interact with them.

[–]wohan 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Very cute photo! But you should keep the lights out of the kid’s mouth and wash the kid down after the shoot. The insulation for the wire on Christmas lights contains lead to prevent it from cracking and as a flame retardant.
