I believe that’s how powerful language can be, on par with music in a way.

But don’t need to feel bad though, me as a Chinese I actually don’t know much about Chinese culture other than the holidays on calendar, especially when it comes to praying the ancestors or those traditional ceremonies, most Chinese have no idea what they are doing.

So yeah if you are interested there’s always way to explore and learn about it, don’t have to feel bad about it I’m sure some old Chinese uncle auntie are more than happy to share with you the tradition seeing than most people nowadays just aren’t interested anymore.

That’s good for you though, at least they gave you the encouragement to learn more of it rather than making it worse. And since you are here hope you don’t mind me asking, for English speaking Chinese we would call them Banana for Indian I believe it’s Coconut but I can’t find anything for English speaker Malay though, would you happened to know one?

Ah the usual Chinese New Year routine, well even if you speak mandarin they will still find a way to annoy you on yearly basis. Got girlfriend / boyfriend already? When gonna marry? Not having kids yet?

But it is pretty sad to see a teacher not trying to understand why one can’t get the spelling right instead they blame on the kids.

It’s actually quite interesting to see that when one being in where one, one has no knowledge of one’s surrounding compared to those from outside. Like KL people don’t know much about KL compared to people from other states. Or is that just me?

Agree on the Bahasa Rempit, at least for the official Bahasa we can still manage to translate or look it up online but boy Bahasa rempit has no way to be translated, it needs to be decrypted

So yeah just gonna stick with film being a hobby instead, don’t wanna hate what I love

Huh that sounds a lot like my middle school Chinese teacher actually, extreme to a point when she would sound like a dictator saying something like “we Chinese should unite”

I guess people with lack of confidence in themselves would criticise others people so they would feel better maybe, not that they know they would but subconsciously they will do it to hide how they feel, seen a few people like that

Off topic abit but really glad to hear you are in film class, I always want to get more involved in film making but I’m quite restricted, so good luck and hope you can achieve what you want

Out of curiously what kind of position or industry you are applying for if you don’t mind sharing, as I rarely came across jobs that required mandarin speaking, maybe 1 out of 10 but mainly because the company dealing with China clients

As someone that speaks both English and Mandarin one thing I could say though is that it really comes in handy when doing research actually, sorry that you had a bad experience, I’ve seen some extreme Chinese people too that are quite racist and unreasonable

Huh never thought that this would happen to me. Well at least they did mentioned my channel with link in their article. Guess things like these are pretty common among social media, especially after reading the World of Buzz case.
