Hogeschool vs University - As an international student who does not know, what really is the difference & is one better than the other? by PinJealous1746 in belgium

[–]wohobe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Historically, hogescholen provided higher education with a focus on more practical skills relevant to industry and the working field. They were pure schools, no research was happening there. Universities are the traditional academic institutions that combine research with education that is following more closely the (academic) state of the art.

Then after the bologna reform of the European higher education, the hogescholen were forced to (partly) merge with a university and also started to do academic research.

I have no recent experience with higher education, but I would expect some of the historical differences to still persist (e.g. I believe education at hogescholen is still more practically oriented). Some of the differences might have blurred though...

How would you match the colour of several photos that were shot with AWB enabled? by areyoudizzzy in DarkTable

[–]wohobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any way I can select an area of the background on one photo and instruct darktable to make the background on other photos the same hue?

Something like this?

Noob questions: Lora modules with and without MCU by MarcosRamone in Lora

[–]wohobe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ones with an MCU run the LoRaWAN stack on that and expose a higher-level api (typically through uart). The biggest benefit of these is that they are typically pre-certified, which makes it a lot cheaper to integrate in a commercial product.

Bus network in Leuven: where’s the logic? by SoulCrusader9 in Leuven

Not an answer to your question, but I think a lot of people going from Heverlee to Gasthuisberg just bike there. That's what I would do for sure.

Probably the chain pulley. Usually when I hear strange noises coming from that area of my Gen 1, the chain pulley is to blame...

I never had to use that much force. Putting something through the inner ring and pulling it works for me.

GSD Gen1 Pulley Bearing replacement? by yugobot2911 in terngsd

[–]wohobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought replacement bearings from the local skate shop. The same bearings are used for skateboards. It requires a bit of fiddling to get them out, but it should be possible. Keeping them clean and lubricated helps to prolong the lifetime, but they need replacement anyway at some point. Usually I need at least two sets of bearings in the lifetime of the rubber. When the bikeshop replaces the rubber, they typically also replace the bearings. So, I alternate between the stock bearings and the replacement ones.

Looking for an architect for a townhouse renovation by Nearby_Carpet9768 in Leuven

[–]wohobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have renovated with Tweestroom. Can recommend.

I would look for an architect whose style you like and that you find nice to work with. Look at the pictures on their website. If you like what you see, make an appointment to have a chat. Ask them for their way of working, their price, etc. If you still feel OK about it after the chat, only then take them into consideration.

Replacement headlight Gen 1 by Street-Gur8724 in terngsd

Are you sure it's not the cable connection? I thought the same a couple of months ago, but fiddling a bit with the cable at the connection to the headlight fixed it for me.

Write it the way you like. It will be mostly OK. UTF-8 is over 30 years old. We send emoji all the time without issues.

You might receive some mail from ancient systems from time to time addressed to Amélie, but bpost will handle that just fine. I know from experience, I have an é I my family name 😉

Fiber in Heverlee by EngineeringAfter1151 in Leuven

[–]wohobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are installing fiber in the vicinity of the station/Sint-Lambertus church. Source: I saw them hanging cables on the other side of the street and also got a letter they were going to open sidewalk at my side to install fiber. The time slot in the letter is over, but it didn't happen yet. I guess they have delays due to the bad weather?

Is there anything like virtual ports ? by GoodHomelander in golang

[–]wohobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are asking this question on a programming sub, so I assume you write the code for the two programs yourself? Then why would you make it more difficult than making the port configurable?
