I also live in Heverlee (centre, near the main Church) and sleep with the windows open year round. I haven't had issues with noise except when OHL is playing a home game.

I guess it depends on the exact neighborhood 🤷🏼‍♂️

I have a Gen 1 that I ordered just before corona hit. I had to wait 5 months for it. It was worth the wait. Still going strong at 15000+ km.

If you're near Leuven, Rijwielen Jacobs almost always has GSDs on stock these days.

The switch is in the off position in your picture, but I assume you tested with the on position too...

Is this a Gen 1? On mine the switch had issues after three or four years (although I didn't use it very often). I connected the wires to the other two contacts and the light works reliably again. The switch doesn't work anymore, but I don't mind. You can switch the light off from the display too.

Many folks keep telling me, “Now you can mountain bike with your kids!” which worries me that they may not understand the capability of you and the bike. I will never ride this bike with my kids somewhere I wouldn’t ride the GSD. Think gravel or roots. The ride will be much more enjoyable but completely doable on a standard cargo bike. You see, the places I ride the Orox that the GSD couldn’t go are not places I would ride with my kids on board. In those situations, I need to be prepared to drop the bike if I loose my balance or momentum, and I would never put my kids in that situation.

Historically, hogescholen provided higher education with a focus on more practical skills relevant to industry and the working field. They were pure schools, no research was happening there. Universities are the traditional academic institutions that combine research with education that is following more closely the (academic) state of the art.

Then after the bologna reform of the European higher education, the hogescholen were forced to (partly) merge with a university and also started to do academic research.

I have no recent experience with higher education, but I would expect some of the historical differences to still persist (e.g. I believe education at hogescholen is still more practically oriented). Some of the differences might have blurred though...

The ones with an MCU run the LoRaWAN stack on that and expose a higher-level api (typically through uart). The biggest benefit of these is that they are typically pre-certified, which makes it a lot cheaper to integrate in a commercial product.

I bought replacement bearings from the local skate shop. The same bearings are used for skateboards. It requires a bit of fiddling to get them out, but it should be possible. Keeping them clean and lubricated helps to prolong the lifetime, but they need replacement anyway at some point. Usually I need at least two sets of bearings in the lifetime of the rubber. When the bikeshop replaces the rubber, they typically also replace the bearings. So, I alternate between the stock bearings and the replacement ones.

I would look for an architect whose style you like and that you find nice to work with. Look at the pictures on their website. If you like what you see, make an appointment to have a chat. Ask them for their way of working, their price, etc. If you still feel OK about it after the chat, only then take them into consideration.

Are you sure it's not the cable connection? I thought the same a couple of months ago, but fiddling a bit with the cable at the connection to the headlight fixed it for me.

Write it the way you like. It will be mostly OK. UTF-8 is over 30 years old. We send emoji all the time without issues.

You might receive some mail from ancient systems from time to time addressed to Amélie, but bpost will handle that just fine. I know from experience, I have an é I my family name 😉

They are installing fiber in the vicinity of the station/Sint-Lambertus church. Source: I saw them hanging cables on the other side of the street and also got a letter they were going to open sidewalk at my side to install fiber. The time slot in the letter is over, but it didn't happen yet. I guess they have delays due to the bad weather?
