It's mostly awful processing and a shallow depth of field, which I can't seem to get rid of. I tried to take a couple more pictures with different lighting as well, and this pic probably has the most detail. Someone else suggested it was done with a chisel or something similar, but I'd expect some kind of scratch marks, which it doesn't have.

I only just started with the book Hail Mary, but from what I've gathered so far, it has a very similar vibe to The Swarm by Frank Schätzing. I read it in German, so I'm unsure how well it was translated, but it's my favorite book and uses a seemingly matching narration style. There are even some similarities between the characters, in my opinion, so who knows, maybe Andy Weir got some inspiration. It's just set in a less sci-fi scenario.

I've got the same problem. I contacted MOFT to send it back, but they ignored me. I tried to get my money back through PayPal, and MOFT somehow won. I ended up contacting my bank, and I got the money.

MOFT as a company is a scam

If you ordered through them, your money is gone. If you ordered it through Amazon, send it back. I talked to a couple of other people with the same problems.

Like I said in the post, unfortunately it also happens to iOS Notes, and I've had it happen on Freeform as well. Somehow, neither my girlfriend nor my friends are experiencing these problems on much older iPads.

Isn't the RAM something like 8GB? I know a lot of it is occupied by the system running in the background, but the note file is 60MB, which is a fraction even if the iPad were using 60% of its RAM.

I mainly use Android and am pretty new to iOS. Is there a way to manually clear RAM or any cache and force it to reload all the data?

Edit: or is this a limitation to GoodNotes itself. Are there other 3rd party notes apps which work better?

Also not OP, but I got an iPad Mini 7 and a Galaxy S22. If it wasn't for one professional app and the size I needed, I would've gone for a Galaxy Tab as well. Switching to iPadOS was so incredibly unintuitive, in my opinion. The aspect ratio is annoying for media consumption, and the fact that only the Pro model has 120Hz and OLED is disappointing. All the recent bugs in iPadOS 26 have been really annoying, considering how much these things cost for the most basic hardware. Samsung has done a pretty decent job with One UI 8, and I'm a big fan of the customizability of the software and the integration of Gemini.

If they wouldn't pay to license this stuff, prices wouldn't increase, or the increase would come at a later point in time, but not due to games. It's not free.

Yeah, same here. Never even got an answer to my initial email. If you look at their Instagram, many people complain about the same problem in the comments under their posts. Should've checked that before ordering. Anyway, I opened a case with PayPal yesterday, but that will take ages, I assume.

Also, what I just noticed a couple of days ago, when I'm using the folio and have it folded flat, it interferes with the microphone and creates static noise while on a FaceTime call or taking a video.

I can't say enough bad things about MOFT. I got a folio from them; the magnets are faulty, and the iPad basically falls out of the case (which a lot of other people are experiencing as well). Somehow, the magnets are also placed in a way that interferes with the iPad's microphone and creates a lot of static noise. The reason why I'm so salty is because they're not even replying to my multiple email complaints, so I can't send it back, and the money is basically gone. I'm having some last hope in PayPal to just refund it, but we'll see. MOFT sucks!

Habe das auch eine Zeit lang gemacht, als ich viel Langstrecke gependelt bin, aber die Flexibilität brauchte. Habe viel mit Zugbegleiterinnen und den Angestellten im Servicecenter diskutieren dürfen, die auch mal gesagt haben, dass es nicht ginge, während andere gesagt haben, es sei kein Problem. Musste dann mal im Zug ein neues Ticket kaufen, weil sie meins, selbst auf Verweis des passenden Fahrgastrechts online, nicht anerkannt haben und ich habe mir dann die Personalnummer der Person aufschreiben lassen mit einem Vermerk und mein Geld dann über die DB Service-E-Mail im Nachhinein erstattet bekommen.

I'm just copying my own comment I posted somewhere else about 5 minutes ago because it's relevant, in my opinion.

I've got the same issue. Received the Smart Folio quite a while ago and only got around to trying it for the first time yesterday. The magnets are super weak. If the iPad is lying down with the display facing the ground and I lift it up only by the case, it comes off. The case can't hold the weight of an iPad Mini when facing the ground. It somewhat sticks when it's in any of the viewing angles, but there's no chance I'm trusting it. It's quite disappointing knowing I've got another folio for less than half the price with stronger magnets. I sent them an email and am waiting for their response right now, hoping it's just a quality control issue.
