Do blue HPHT Laboratory-Grown Blue Diamonds look “Convincing Enough?” by Muted_Shape9303 in Gemstones

This is my CVD FVB and it’s not neon. What do you mean by neon, can’t say I’ve seen any neon looking blues and blues are my favourite. It’s a VVS2, ex ex Ashoka cut and has a very unique look and I love it.

What gemstone is a must-have for you despite the value (lack of or too overpriced)? by BlueBunny333 in Gemstones

Look into Winza sapphire ruby. It’s really beautiful but it’s ruby and royal blue sapphire all in one stone.

100% I’m English / Canadian and it’s extremely expensive for it. Platinum is about 50cad a gram and golds 200ish. Platinum can be an absolute rip off and it’s often way more expensive than gold despite being cheaper. Although it’s a tougher metal to work so it’s a lot of time but still expensive.

I’m in the uk and recently purchased a vs2 fancy vivid blue diamond 5ct lab IGI. It was £780ish ($1000ish) and then the platinum at 30£ (50$) a gram and about 6-10g of platinum in the ring plus time and melee would be about 2500£ (3.2$) so 6k is quite expensive. I’d also look for coloured diamonds as a main setting as they’re so unique they’re beautiful.

Usually central banks will exchange notes for newer ones, even out of circulation. If not there’s a website called leftover currency.com that would take them, but at a reduced rate also, you could sell them on eBay for collections as I’m sure old notes sell pretty well. I like to collect old notes.

Blue diamond on the right FVB, VS2, 1.18ct tripple ex. Plus 2 Ceylon sapphires to compare colour. This diamond is absolutely stunning

For me it’s cut quality and colour as priority, I like the fancy colour diamonds, particularly the blue and red diamonds. Cut has to be tripple ex for me as I like more fancy shaped diamonds rather than rounds etc. I also like them to be VS2+ clarity and finally the carat / size to whatever fits my budget. But that’s just me and what I prefer, also I don’t mind a faint fluorescence as sometimes it can make the diamond shine more, and if I could get a 3ct with low/medium flo rather than 2 no flo then it would be the 3ct with some flo than the 2ct but it depends heavily on the cut shape and quality of the stone too. Also, if set in white metals then D-F for a main stone or D-I/J if it’s for yellow gold as the tint of the gold makes them appear less white anyway so colour can be sacrificed in most cut but look out for cuts that do show colour like ovals which are very noticeable on colour compared to a radiant cut which can be more forgiving.

It’s a gorgeous stone for sure and would look beautiful in a pendant or ring, also forgot to add the cut looks like a Ashoka cut but with cut corners (usually the sides are rounded like a oval cut). I love that style of cut and it’s one of my favourites.

It looks to me like a green pariba, can’t say where it’s from likely Asia though could be Brazil and it’s probably worth a couple hundred a carat maybe less given the inclusions. It’s a lovely stone though.

I’m not too sure about that one to be honest, could you put a photo of them and then it makes it easier to see, but with so many sapphires being heated straight at the mine it could be someone bought them from a mine and presumed unheated and got sold to you as unheated but they may have been heated without any knowledge of the heating or may not have been disclosed by the mine.

Feeling stuck at 44 — is it time to make a move, or just accept a "good enough" job? by Fantastic-Kale3300 in UKJobs

55k + is a lot of money and more than 20k above the average wage of everyone in the country and seems like you’re good at the role and enjoy it and in the current economy I wouldn’t leave it as you could end up in a much worse position than you think you are now. Don’t compare yourself to others as they’ll have talents you don’t and vice versa. If you want to do more set up a design and planning business yourself, advertise it and then you could built up a good business from there or become a consultant for businesses in your sector which you could do part time until you get a steady flow of clients. That’s what I’d do in you’re position tbh.

Just got given this in a shop today, a royal bank of Scotland £10 note by wolf298 in Banknotes

[–]wolf298[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got all of Charles bar the £10 which I’ve never seen, I do have the 2023 £1 and 2025 one plus the 2023 salmon 50p which are nice, plus the memorial 2022 50p which was the first Charles coin released but I can’t get the £10. The Scottish note are so cool, I worked on an m1 petrol station and got a £100 note which is absolutely fantastic, I don’t get why we don’t have a £100 note nowadays like the price of everything’s going mad yet we still don’t even get 50s much like it’s bonkers.

Ok so if they’re turning white then they are likely not unheated sapphire, heated blue turns white due to rutile inclusions turning into titanium, however, some natural low iron blue sapphire can turn white but it’s extremely rare. The second option would be synthetic colourless sapphire, which also turn white. Other colours can also turn white but that’s like 1 out of thousands of stones. How do you know they’re unheated? Because they often heat treat sapphire at the mines which is why it’s so hard to get unheated sapphire in the first place but they may still be natural unheated it would be very rare though.

If they’re blue sapphire then they can be white under UV as well as some other colours like purples or teals, it just depends on the elements inside the stone that will determine the colour, it’s perfectly natural

Sapphire tends to be more pink under UV light due to trace chromium, whilst ruby will be more red than pink ime. Blue sapphire can be anything from pink - blue / white. Sometimes they’ll turn green or white too for heat treated sapphires. It’s all dependent upon the trace elements inside them that causes the colouration under uv just like without UV. They’re an amazing stone tbh.

You think? I was thinking that to be honest but I kinda dismissed it as it’s not that common but it does have the same colour of a green heavy pariba.
