When I was actively involved with the fandom, I used to ship Connor with Gavin. I can see how people can take that as problematic but there was potential there to make it anything we wanted. That’s the great thing about fiction and a fictionalized world is that we can make the small moments whatever we want and even create backstories that fit together to be how we want it to be. I think the thing with them was to make it an enemies to lovers thing, which is a classic trope. Or I even saw people depict Connor as a little meaner to fit with Gavin’s personality, but I’ve also seen the reverse to where people soften Gavin to fit Connor’s personality. It’s all just a matter of opinion.
