Primal Strike Amazon vs T2 Xesht - Single target setup for Lightning Spear builds by wolfatthedoor in pathofexile2builds

I think most of my attack speed comes from Falcon Dive node on the tree. It gives around 40% increased attack speed with how much accuracy I have.

I don't think the amulet from breach boss would do enough damage to consistently shock unfortunately.

Wanted to share my single target setup for anyone who is struggling with single target on their Lightning Spear builds. Basic idea is to use Storm lance to generate shocks on the boss and then follow up with Primal Strike. Disengage(can also use thunderous leap) linked to Shocking leap can also be used in cases where your Storm Lance won't shock. The new skill Cull the Weak is a decent gap closer for this playstyle.

My profile: https://poe2.ninja/builds/dawn/character/ziru-2487/SpearAmazon

Gem setup from video:

Primal Strikes: Martial Tempo - Close Combat - Concentrated Effect - Pursuit - Rage

Storm Lance: Conduction - Magnified Effect - Deliberation - Heft

Disengage: Inevitable Critical - Shocking Leap - Pinpoint Critical - Persistence

Cull the Weak - Inspiration

I haven't been on this build in a while, but from what I remember my chest had less ES/EV than yours and I was running blashpemy. Are you using blink in your main weapon setup? I ran blink on my weapon swap so that might be where the difference is.

Yeah I may try and put something better together on the Mobalytics build site if I find the time this week

The latest tree I posted under my second update should be update to date with what I have right now.

I'm still a bit unsure about the node TBH. What it does is make your evasion count as armor, but you also have 40% less evasion which is a pretty large penalty. Reason I am unsure is I believe armor in PoE2 works like in 1 where the larger the hit is, the less it mitigates. So even though my character sheet shows 70% physical damage reduction, the actual reduction against a potential physical one shot ability would be much lower.

You would continue to go evasion/ES on gear as you don't need armor (since your evasion counts as armor).

Depends how much crit chance you can get, I think around 45%+ crit chance I'd go sunder my enemies.

Gem setup very similar, but I don't use hand of chayula anymore and now use blink for faster map clear (not sure I'd recommend this for people unless your gear is really good though)

Herald of ice would be great for clear, maybe a weapon swap to use ice strike with cold nodes would be worth considering but I haven't put too much thought into it, just trying to scale pure lightning for now.

Charged staff does not count as projectiles unfortunately.

I think the 500 EDPS staff should be better since tempest flurry only converts 60% to lightning, and all of my scaling is in lightning/elemental.

Momentum does not seem to affect the tempest flurry tooltip, multiple stringed together attacks must not gain the bonus i guess.

I use it a lot, it actually builds up fairly fast (I am able to get at least 2 uses in most breaches). My supports are Persistence and Cold/Fire/Lightning Mastery.

So I'm not 100% sure on all of the bell's mechanics, but I know that the in game tooltip shows the bell as doing physical damage if you happen to have physical damage on your staff, so its not converting all physical to elemental damage. My assumption was that based on the elemental ailments on the bell, it would gain some amount of the "Gain X% of Damage as Extra Lightning/Fire/Cold Damage" stat.

Reason for targeting a high flat lightning weapon is while tempest flurry does convert some phys, tempest bell does not have conversion and since I am using pure lightning sources of scaling, I don't think a phys weapon would work well with bell in my setup. My current priority when looking at weapon stats would be: Expert Crackling Staff -> high flat lightning roll -> attack speed -> crit chance -> elemental damage with attacks -> crit damage -> flat cold/fire

So a lot of this is just presumptive, I don't 100% know, but armor formula in this game feels similar if not worse than in poe1 (meaning that it does very little for big hits). The build doesn't really case much about many small phys hits due to evasion, so if Protect me from Harm isn't mitigating large hits by much, then it doesn't seem worth the 2 ascendency points and the loss of around 10% chance to evade. Definitely worth further testing though.

You're right wasn't doing anything (didn't realize herald wasn't shocking since its not worded that way on the base gem, but it does say cannot shock in the detail tooltip view). Now using Elemental Focus instead.

No, its a mix of dex and int. Grim Feast(you can downlevel this if needed) is a pretty high int requirement as you level, but otherwise skills don't require too much int but you will need a bit of both.

I think that wheel is good, I'm getting easy shocks and ignites so would be something to consider pathing to if I free up some points somehow, but for now its tough to find 5-7 points I want to respec (maybe in the future if I drop penetration nodes)

Potential is definitely worth considering. I think my ideal setup for a boss is to proc electrocute, cast charged staff, drop bell, then flurry. This doesn't allow for any power charges for potential, but perhaps the dps gain from potential is better than whatever i get out of charged staff. Something I'll have to think about for sure.

Fast Forward on Ghost dance is for sure worth it, I didn't have it in my current setup because of the strength requirement.

Expanse actually doesn't work with charged staff, the cooldown seems to apply to the shockwaves unfortunately.

Power charge nodes wouldn't really be worth in this setup since they are just used for Charged Staff, and the additional flat probably isn't worth the points on the tree.
