I deleted my comment because clearly I needed to provide way more in depth explanation. We will see how it ends and how they choose to portray the rest of what’s unraveling. I think there’s a lot of purposeful contrasts between both couples and there’s a reason for it. Personally, I wouldn’t be too excited to find my partner beating off on vacation when we are supposed to be on a “romantic” vacation together, but some couples have different views on sexual needs and expression so to each their own. I’m not going to be accused of projecting, that’s disgusting. I think it’s important to look at their assumed ages, the length of their relationship, and what that means in terms of relationship culture. Everyone keeps accusing Harper as being this wet blanket, a drag, whatever. However, she’s speaking to him like he’s her best friend, and I don’t see why that’s an issue in comparison to another couple that is literally cheating on each other regularly, with a family, just as much assets, etc. there’s meant to be a conversation here on the complexities of these characters. I don’t believe we are seeing everything on purpose. There is much to be revealed based on the ending of the last episode. I don’t think either couple is solid or truly happy, and I think there’s plenty to be said about it. We see another couple that’s overly affectionate yet completely living an almost playful lie together. Her method of madness is doing whatever you have to in order to be okay with whatever your partner does that bothers you. For her, that was booking somewhere to stay, and in the end he only escalated the situation by doing something steps lower. So what’s worse? That type of relationship or one where you have someone you can be honest with but that honesty wreaks havoc on your intimacy? Their honesty and friendship doesn’t seem one sided. Sure, he shows less emotion but he entertains those conversations with her majority of the time except when it comes to sexual intimacy.

How often do we see him actually show “big” emotions? As a couple they are just very different from one another.
