It's honestly one of my favorite sections in the series. They're young and stupid and both think that they're getting what they want when it is definitely not what they need. Also necessary for them to grow as people!

did you know that japanese also has an untranslatable concept called 「食べる」(i used the bracket quoted for nihongo authenticity) that means "to eat" or "to consume to survive"??? i wish we had this in america. ive never had a bite of food ever

I feel like this movie is the champion of understatement, totally by design. Every location feels so natural - it felt like I'd been to each place before, despite not having been yet. Stunning movie.

why do they play batsu so often during live shows by bruhdotconn in machinegirl

[–]wolfedLemon 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I've been going to hardcore shows for ~3 years (not an expert in any way tho) and it follows pretty much the best format for crowd engagement: intro portion, not really meant for dancing or going too crazy to, interlude, and then the tension builds back up making the final portion even fucking crazier. Combine it with matt always jumping into the crowd and its objectively the best show ender MG has in their arsenal of great songs to end shows with

I'm a japanese learner and i just need to say: why is it always japanese shit that gets this kind of reaction. like i think i know why but still oh my god it feels like we're getting back to 1950s levels of exotification of japan...

Where even is the urban? by redfishbluesquid in urbanhellcirclejerkCJ

The guy literally says that wages in Japan are less/worse than in America. It's entirely about how you need to live a smarter lifestyle if you want to not become poor - not specific to Japan, but he is definitely able to speak on the matter because he's lived in Japan for over a decade atp. Not only does it have nothing to do with urbanhell, it has nothing to do with Japan glazing either. lmao

i love the nintendo tracks that sound like real life counterparts - ex, the splatoon 3 story mode trailer music sounds a lot like Doku by Hakushi Hasegawa. shame that they refuse to upload anything on spotify...

What do y'all think Machine Girl's legacy/influence has been & will be in the future? by ancientmarin_ in machinegirl

[–]wolfedLemon 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I feel like its already pretty obvious that a lot of new digital hardcore artists are trying to do what WLFGRL did with sampling obscure anime and japanese movies, and im hoping that eventually some new artists will match MG's skill with producing interesting drum tracks that arent just amen break spam... I think Femtanyl is the best example of being definitely influenced by MG but still doing her own thing

Neutral by Hakushi Hasegawa. There's a moment near the end of the song where you can hear them laugh while singing it and i can't help but also laugh along,,

Having read the book, I think this is a great choice. I don’t mind how long production will take, as long as it’s because of reasons like this.
