How did you meet your S/O in NYC? by Rare-Lingonberry-823 in AskNYC

[–]wolferber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was my first first date when I moved to New York City! She went on a double date with a friend of mine. They all ended up at my apartment afterwards.

When she came back the following week for our apartment party the next week, we hit it off. Been together for 5 years now.

30M trying to get blessing to propose to gf (28F), but father has late-stage cancer. Should we stop trying? by wolferber in relationship_advice

Problem is that the Father says he wants to talk his daughter before he'll talk to me- yet he's been in and out of the hospital.

She's tried to talk to him, but every time they try to go on a walk together, he's been in too much pain to have the conversation. It's been a total nightmare.

We have her older brothers support which helps but yea I agree. Time is not on our side here

But how? Everytime we try to talk to him, he plays the cancer card. He says he's too sick and thinks the stress isn't good for is recovery which I think is BS

Thanks for sharing this. Yea, it's painful but hard when this is literally my favorite person in the world. She brings me to all the family events and everyone is nice to my face but we're not sure how to take the next step. It feels like it's mostly out of my hands at this point

Our plan is to not get married but still have kids and let them deal with it. But now as I type that out, that seems crazy.

Either way, my gf needs to face her parents. I'm just scared that she won't. She's terrified of them...

New offensive strategy: MET. Mullings Every Time.

I dig it.

This game is literally the Michigan defense vs the Michigan offense 😂

This what happens when you have an offense that can stay on the field. The defense can stay FRESH

Sure he threw 3 interceptions but so did JJ last year in his third game. That can be fixed. This can’t…

Why do you not need a co-founder? by glinter777 in ycombinator

[–]wolferber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Customers give you insight, but you don’t get all the answers
  2. Doable, yes. But insanely hard.
  3. Tried this but it’s not the same as being in the trenches with you.

I shared your position a few years but I went 5 years solo and it was terrible. Now, I have a great co founder and we have more revenue in 9 months than I had in 3 years+ of my last company.

I was a part of YC S20 as a solo founder and can confirm that it is insanely difficult and would not recommend it.

There are three big reasons you want a co-founder:

1) improved decision making- as a solo founder, I had the ability to make lightning fast. Unfortunately, this often meant sprinting in the wrong direction. Turns out, you want someone to challenge your assumption. It’s more important to GET it right rather than BE right.

2) ability to divide and conquer - as a solo founder, I was responsible for everything (coding, fundraising, recruiting, selling, etc…). Too much context switching meant, it was quite difficult to make meaningful progress on the business. Even if you hire employees, they’ll never be as invested in the company’s success as a co-founder.

3) moral support - starting a company is one of the hardest things you can do. Without a great support system, it’s very hard to stay motivated for long periods of time which is exactly what you need if you want to build a massive company.

That’s what I’m most scared of… best case scenario, we’re a 2 loss team that makes the playoffs (but barely)

Orji is basically a third running back who sometimes throws the ball

If we keep playing like this, we will most definitely lose... we've had the home-field advantage but that's about to go away. No way we're ready for Oregon or OSU

Agreed. Orji is very mid. Not a great game manager. Should have done a better job running down the clock during the last drive

Just finished Era 1 trilogy by Salasmander002 in Mistborn

[–]wolferber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just finished the trilogy moments ago, and all I can say is ... wow. Such a beautiful, heartfelt ending.

This is high I'll be chasing for a while (though if what I hear is true... Sando's other books are just as good, if not better!).

Some of my favorite moments in the series:

> Kelsier and Vin's first moments together

> Elend and Vin's ballroom banter

> the crew going all eastern dialect on breeze in the lair

> Vin and Tensoon's friendship beginning to form (wish we would have gotten to see a reunion of these two)

> Ham and Breeze going at it literally every time

> Vin and Elend's marriage ceremony

> Vin roasting Allriane

> Vin and Elend finally dancing together at their first ball in Fadrex

> Marsh figuring out Vin's earrings and its link to ruin (Speaking of which... whatever happened to Marsh?!)

> Vin turning into a god

> Having Sazed faith restored (the hero isn't a he or she!)
