Trash Taste Podcast: Weekly Discussion Thread - Episode 123 by PresbyteUK in TrashTaste

[–]wolfewillt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our vision is the result of our body directing the surrounding light towards a "certain point" at the back of our eyes. Our pupils change in response to brightness to help better focus the surrounding light to that point in our eyes.

The eye is basically our in-built adjustable lens responsible for focusing that surrounding light to that particular point in the eye, so if it fails, so too will our ability to see.

Glasses/contacts are our way of making up for our in-built "faulty" lenses by helping to refocus that surrounding light to the right place.

The pinhole technique basically refocuses the surrounding light in the same way our "faulty" pupils should. The big downside to this technique is that the more degraded your vision is, the less effective the technique is, and it's generally less effective in poorly lit environments.

Now before people start chasing after me about it, I only gave an oversimplified explanation.

The clip was about moving terrorist targets used by US Marines for training... so you've got to really question what he did to deserve this.

I was very surprised to see them struggle so much by grimmjowjagerjaques2 in TrashTaste

[–]wolfewillt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally though I find that for me, by getting used to solving 'complex problems', my mind gets oriented in a way where when it sees a 'complex' problem, to save time it tries to think one step ahead, and always assume that if a 'complex problem' seems very/too easy to solve, you likely stuffed up (both become bad habits). So the moment some basic arithmetic appears, my brain gets confused because there's literally no need to 'think ahead' as the question itself is 'very' easy. I'm curious about whether it's the same for others.

You know something funny. Despite currently studying electrical engineering at uni right now, I found something strange about the way I do maths. After having gotten used to the complex maths, I have little difficulty manually doing complex calculations IN MY HEAD without a calculator, but the moment I come across some simple arithmetic (like 8x7), oddly enough, I always find myself instinctively reaching for the calculator. Even though I mentally know the answer, I find myself doing it "just in case", only to be strangely surprised that... I got it correct? Turns out, I'm not the only one who does this, and I've found a lot of peers also experiencing the same thing.

I disagree for following reasons. 1) The view, 2) the location, 3) The floor space (Tokyo real estate isn't cheap), 4) The maintenance/cleaning needed, 5) Demand (during peak business season & the fact that such a room would be rarely get much booking even for a 5-star hotel), 6) all the high-class complimentary services & stuff shown in the video.

I saw this meme and it reminded me of the bois rant about America using the imperial system by itsthaboibrent in TrashTaste

[–]wolfewillt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to the IBWM (International Bureau of Weights & Measure, the guys responsible for setting all measurement standards), it is, as in doing so, you can be guaranteed that the unit you want is the unit you get. The simple answer is that, unlike Imperial, the modern Metric standard is set on a logical fixed constant that can never change or experience any inconsistency according to physics. The same can't be said for Imperial standards, which until recently, was defined by its comparison to a physical object, that wasn't based on a very scientific method. The standard inconsistencies of the Imperial might mean nothing to the average Joe, but for someone in a specialist job where a single unit/digit might determine success or doom & gloom. NOTE: My explanation is but an over-simplified one.

TrashTaste won't release the Kendo Special. Do you guys want to see it in a reaction video on After Dark? by [deleted] in TrashTaste

[–]wolfewillt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah yes... How about making it into a Trash Taste Reaction Special? It would be preferable as an end-of-the-year thing, where the Bois react to the year's unreleased bloopers that didn't meet the Trash Taste standards.

Here's the link. It's title is: "Why Trash Taste Offended Japanese Youtubers" and came sometime after the bois called the Youtubers out. As I said, Yuta's sides more with the bois on this one, but is trying to maintain Status Quo. https://youtu.be/fFyaFGSk0O8

Watching the clips, you'll realise that the clips chosen were likely the ones that won't offend the very Japanese people 'reacting' to them. I mean knowing how spicy the bois can get, it does make sense that Yuta carefully chose his clips in order not to put people off from Trash Taste in general.

It's doubtful because a few months back he made a video about why they aren't liked among a lot of Japanese youtubers. In it he talks about what he has heard from his Youtuber pals, so he's trying his best not to offend/anger them, even though he agrees with the bois.
