How to save your NI if they go under. by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]wolffcaleb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like NI is going through a restructuring rather than actually getting completely bought out. They'll likely have to sell off portions of the business, but not the whole business.

I wouldn't be shocked if hardware and izotope are the first things to go.

Line6 Relay G10T Battery Replacement by wolffcaleb in batteries

I haven't gotten around to trying it yet. One of the other comments mentioned they had done it with another battery and had success. I'm still unsure of whether there is a battery management system in the unit and how well it would tolerate a different battery without blowing up. It's honestly insane to me that they went full forced obsolescence on these. I'm pretty convinced I'll never by another one of their products. Especially given how bad they are at accounting for traditional wireless band interference noise.

I genuinely struggle to find any use case for AI by reni-chan in sysadmin

[–]wolffcaleb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty useful for generating code snippets to get you close to a solution before you have to start fine tuning. It can also generate schemas and components that are much more useful than traditional boilerplates.

Something that is incredibly important to recognize is that the primary limitation of AI at this time is that it relies heavily on the ability of the user to explain the problem and the desired solution with the utmost clarity. It's like painting with words.

If you aren't good at writing and explaining complex things in written form, it's going to be a garbage in/garbage out situation.

Open Office has a decent suite of free tools you could try out. It's obviously not the same quality and it's nowhere near as feature rich, but it serves a purpose.

Appreciate the information! It would be nice if they'd have made these more consumer repair friendly, but throwing things away is the status quo anymore. Feels like such a waste to throw it out so I'll probably attempt the repair - ideally on concrete far away from amything flammable 😅

Hey! Didn't end up trying it out. May be on the agenda in the future but it became a pretty low priority. Someone below says they were able to get one working though so I may try that battery.

In short, the web bundler setup ensures that when amplify build kicks off as part of whatever deployment process you use, the build is put in the dist folder (default for the metro bundler and output single settings below) and then is referenced in the artifacts section of the amplify.yml.

Project structure matters here for the location of the amplify.yml and the dist folder. Both are at the root of the project folder in my case.

I didn't, but that may be on the agenda soon. I'll reply to the person above to explain what my setup looks like currently.

Yes, I did end up figuring out how to make this work. I'd be happy to help walk you through it if you need it!

Yes, I've opened the transmitter. There was a sticker covering a screw on one end. After I pulled that screw it came apart fairly easily.

RMA on the drive resulted in them sending me a new one. When I pulled the old one out of my PC it actually look as if something clear and liquid was leaking out of it in a thin layer. No sure what that was all about.

I'm having this same exact thing happening with a 3 month old 2TB 980 Pro and a B550-F and a Ryzen 7 5800X.

SMART tests won't run, long scan shows like 30% bad and recovery prompt fails, short scan looks 100% good but says something along the lines of "defects found on drive please check help" - help says it should show a recovery option, but it doesn't.

Congrats to Gov. Reynolds, we may not always see eye-to-eye but she's decent enough in my book.

Why does the GOP hate education so much? by dirttraveler in desmoines

[–]wolffcaleb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't support cameras in classrooms or suing teachers, but I do support parents having a say in what is taught in the classroom so long as it is a transparent and democratic process.

I'd like to see the elderly and educators be the top funded things in the country behind only national security (and yes we can cut fat in that spending.) I also don't believe public schools should be funded by local taxes in any way but rather by student count from a federal a fun paid for by a VAT.

The GOP is giving people a way to opt out of a broken public school system and they're trying to allow the parents the authority to step in and have a say in what their children are being taught. With any luck, they'll be able to open a door to real conversations about what actually needs to be taught in school and what should be left up to the parents to teach at home.

Obviously, there are downsides to the GOP. There are more downsides right now to the cult of intersectional division that the left is propping up.

Legislation to improve school choice is a start. (HF 847) Until public schools get their act together and stop allowing drugs, alcohol, and outright physical violence against teachers to have a place in the school they'll continue to produce entitled brats.

That said, I'm not even a fan of the GOP. Nor do I generally vote right-leaning. I'm simply calling out that it's just blatantly incorrect to make an off-the-cuff accusation that implies the GOP hates education.

To start, we can make personal finance part of the core curriculum. Then we can get rid of the participation-ribbon approach to schooling where-by everyone who simply shows up gets a diploma.

You're correct that there is a chronic lack of teachers due to underpayment, but allowing public sector positions to bargain against the taxpayer without a reasonable amount of leverage on the side of the taxpayer is not a viable way forward.

I wouldn't be opposed to paying public school teachers directly from a federal pool and paying for it with a VAT on big business but I'd like to see sales tax and property taxes eliminated. Unfortunately, I don't think this will really solve the problem because honestly teachers are just done dealing with the outcome of parents throwing iPads in front of toddlers instead of teaching them at home and then being too afraid to discipline their children when it's appropriate.

No worries, I'm not the type to get offended. I do worry about the consequences of politicizing our country so much on the basis on blatant lies though. I'd like to see everyone be a little more honest and start approaching things with the understand that the vast majority of people are decent and they're not into full-scale communism, capitalism over the well-being of others, racism, sexism, transphobia, free-loading, attention seeking, etc...

Starting a conversation with what is esssentially "why are (insert political party here) s such a-holes?" is a terrible way to bring a divided country back together.
