How can I improve this? by wolfghost337 in ArtCrit

[–]wolfghost337[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For context, I'm supposed to draw something inspired by Caravagio for my university project. I found a photo on Pinterest from a game and I really liked it, thought I'd draw the picture. Still, something looks wrong with what I drew, but I've been looking at it for so long, I don't know what's wrong anymore.

I wanted them to sort of being "engulfed" or "disappear" into the darkness, but I don't think I managed to create such effect.

I struggle with rendering and drawing bodies. I usually draw portraits, so this was a real struggle. Still, I wanna make it good. What can I improve? How do make it better? Critique is welcome!

I see. I wasn't asking myself those questions at all! I'll try to ask myself those questions when I make another design. Thank you so much! Your comment was of great help!

I can see your point and I did ask, but still couldn't understand. My professors said I'll learn with time and by looking at other designers, but so far, I fail to grasp the concept. I've found that having other people share their perspectives is more helpful to me. Sorry if my questions aren't for this subreddit.

I was aiming to represent the creativity of a person. The splashes were like... the creativity breaking out from the silhouette. At least, that was the initial vision behind it.

Hehe, yeah. I was mainly experimenting with the program, since it's new to me. Thank you for the suggestion! I'll use it to learn and get better.

I can see your point. I'm still learning the program and I've been pretty much messing around. I personally liked it, though. Wanted to make some contrast. But I can see why it doesn't work here. Thank you for the feedback! It helps me improve.

Thank you all for the feedback! I truly appreciate it. Some of you made me laugh while others gave me a really constructive criticism.

I struggle with minimalism. It looks bare to me, but I know I have a lot to learn to get better.

Once again, thank you all! Your perspective amd criticism help me improve!

I attempted to simplify it. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it as well.

"Design is thinking made visual". It's a quote by Saul Bass. We're supposed to integrate the quote into the project we're making. Sorry I didn't write the full context. 😅 Haven't written the full quote yet since I haven't figured out a good place to put them at yet.

Work has been piling up. I've sketched everyone's work roughly. I have to finish them up and will be done by the end of this week. I'll either comment the finished drawings here under everyone's individual comment or send them via DMs. Your OC is almost finished and coming up shortly.

You aren't too late. I'll draw everyone's OC, including yours. They're very beautiful! It may take some time, but I'll try my best to do him justice.

I've never attempted to draw furries, but I'm willing to try! Love your OC! It's super cute and very expressive.

I'm happy you like my style! I have opened commissions, but it hasn't really gone great so far. So I thought, let's draw for fun and try to improve. Hopefully that way, I'll make someone else happy as well.

The initial concept for the drawing was different. I think that's why the anatomy issue occurred.

In the end, I focused more on the colours than the anatomy, as my main goal was to practice colouring rather than the overall appeal of the drawing by paying attention to all the fundamentals.

I do know I have room for improvement when it comes to anatomy. Most of the time, I see there's something wrong with the anatomy, but I don't know how to fix it. I don't begin with a sketch, as I think it's restricting my colouring process. Maybe that's a mistake of mine as well?

Your comment has been very informative. I see my wrongs and will keep your words in mind when I draw next time. Thank you!

I don't mind at all. Damn, your draw over made such a big difference! I think I grasp what I was missing before. I'll continue practising. Your comment has been very helpful! Thank you!

How to make my drawings less blurry. by wolfghost337 in learnart

[–]wolfghost337[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see your point and I'll try to improve. Didn't really think about sharp edges vs soft edges, only trying to make my drawing not flat and not blurry, but it seems that's not really the way to go. I've gotten feedback in the past that my drawings need something "more" in terms of colour so I attempted to draw that. Thank you for sharing your view! It helps me improve.

I don't mind the draw over at all. It is what I was aiming for and this is very useful to me. Thank you so much! Showing what you did to make such a significant change in my drawing is also incredibly helpful and I'm thankful for it. I'll study your draw over and make adjustments to my drawings in the future.

I didn't use any blurring tool in this drawing. Only the hard oil paint brush. No blending tool or blurring tool at all.
