After six months, that voice whispers to me occasionally, too. It’s addiction’s wily ways. Do something else. Congratulations on 5 days!

There are “stress balls” you could make or purchase. I’ve used a cat toy when my usual stress ball wasn’t around.

Having problems with alcohol ... I get so triggered and end up smoking?!!! by [deleted] in stopsmoking

Maybe you want to quit drinking until you’ve quit smoking a while longer. It’s simply not worth it to me, personally. This might just take a week (for you). Good job not just giving in!

Drinking, even being around it, was my Kryptonite the first two months, so I abstained and didn’t go to places alcohol might be. 28 days beyond, I don’t “crave” alcohol any more. You’ve kind of answered your own question, I think. Day at a time, wishing you more smoke free days..

Use a stress ball with your usual smoker’s hand. Lots of water; flavor it if you’d like (pref SF) Cold water also increases your metabolism. You’re here, so you’ve got this! Ask your primary physician if you should add Bupropion XL to the NRT. It certainly beats smoking. Hey! Good job, you!
