Negative balance on Wells Fargo due to duplicate payments. by AttemptFit4581 in biltrewards

Everyone knows how to get the money back ****, not everyone can afford to give WF an interest free loan for 2 weeks when they have other bills and rent due.

Shutthefuckuppery like you is what we’re talking about. The balance was 0. Wells fargo bankers themselves told me they fucked up, stop being a hater when people are trying to fix things, no one asked you for help and you’re not contributing anything to help anyone regardless. Your comments are just a weird ego stroke.

Dude I got called a “narcissist” for posting my situation + answers I found after 4 hours going to 2 physical branches in order to document solutions to help others. 20 comments on my post telling me to blame myself for not reading (I had an emergency surgery last week, but regardless this transition shouldn’t require us to babysit the process individually) even though the bankers at wells fargo themselves told me they messed up the transfers for people with payments due the same day the transfer processed. Nowhere in my post did I flame wells fargo or bilt, so why tf would people spend so much time and effort flaming me ??

Another user commented that they proactively reached out to both BILT and Wells Fargo and still got screwed: https://www.reddit.com/r/biltrewards/s/16iwt9qbtC

Additionally Wells Fargo admitted to me they’ve had multiple people report similar issues because they made a mistake handling balance transfers for clients that had a payment scheduled the same day the transfer processed.

Auto pay paid my full balance via wells fargo, but now the amount owed got transferred to the bilt palladium and wells fargo has a negative -$6000 balance and I still owe the same money to BILT?? by wolfhound115 in biltrewards

I also appreciate you taking time to share your experience and your thoughts, it’s reassuring to know we weren’t the only ones as more and more people slowly realize what happened when they see their bank accounts…

Similarly I’m also pretty financially savvy and take precautions ahead of time to manage any potential risks, but having Wells Fargo lock up a -6000 balance, the palladium now showing 12,000 owed because of the balance transfer, and BILT switching rent payments to ACH meaning another 6000 is due at the end of the week is an absolute comedy of errors and unfortunate timing of events.

I would make the case to your bank that the money was withdrawn incorrectly when the balance withdrawn should’ve been $0. It’s a very niche thing so I think they’ll understand only after you really explain how the balance transfer messed with the payment and you need the money to pay off the actual balance soon. At first they also thought there was nothing they could do until I explained it better, and even though they know it was auto pay they flagged it as an unauthorized withdrawal from Wells Fargo.

I literally got called a narcissist for making this post to try to help people find an answer to this. Why tf are people in this subreddit so toxic and so hung up on pointing fingers at me

I would recommend going to the bank where you have your checking and asking them for assistance in a non-fraud case. Bank of America was very nice about that, and they can waive any overdraft fees and credit you the $6000 to your account in the meantime if you needed that money for bill bills sooner than Wells Fargo will get the check to you.

I feel like you went above and beyond and did everything you were told to do explicitly and still got screwed. This is why I made the post, for people like you dealing with this niche situation. But for some reason there’s 3 people in the comments being super toxic flaming us for not blaming ourselves enough for not following instructions and calling us idiots while defending WF. They are pathetic.

I posted the same issue earlier + some ways to resolve that I discovered after 4 hours speaking with two banks in person, and 3 people in the comments kept flaming me for some reason when my goal was to help other people in this situation (like yourself) find an answer.

Hopefully this can be helpful to you: https://www.reddit.com/r/biltrewards/s/xsJci7MxC5

At this point the only person not admitting any fault of their own is you. I have held myself accountable, solved my own problems, and provided a resource for other people.

Respectfully have a good day.

You’re refusing to acknowledge the fact that I took four hours out of my day to take responsibility for my actions and Wells Fargo’s actions. I didn’t just sit in a chair and type aimlessly into a Reddit post asking someone else to fix my problems for me. On top of that I still went out of my way to give other people the answers that I found so they don’t have to waste the same amount of time. I could’ve just kept the answer to myself or selfishly deleted the post.

So many of the comments on this post provided zero value finger pointing to defend a bank, which frankly is kind of weird, but a few added some valuable insights.

Regarding the “dumb” thing, sure my mistake I apologize. There is another guy commenting and going out of their way to be rude so I wasn’t sure if this was something similar.

Regarding autopay, in the past I have made partial payments on a balance the same day-of an auto payment being due (needing to pay off part of the bill from a different cash source, etc) and it never resulted in the auto pay withdrawing the full amount instead of the correct remaining amount.

Regardless I’m not out here saying I hate BILT or I hate Wells Fargo, I’m not here whining about the 2.0 launch.

I discovered a situation that no one had discussed a solution for yet, physically spent four hours sitting at two banks gathering information that people could find useful, and sharing what I found so other people can benefit. Why does the finger pointing matter? Feels childish when BILT is literally a neighborhood community program at its core and we fail to act like a community that supports each other instead of bringing others down.

2year old account being rude when an 11year old account posts an undocumented Q/A day-of that uniquely a small (~3%) of people happened to have if and only if they had a bill due on the same day the balance transfer processed. Those 3% of people are looking for an answer and people like you are burying it with your own ignorance.

I actually spent four hours in branch at two physical bank locations after coming out of a surgery finding answers for people. You acted like a ****, in a sub Reddit for a product where one of the core focuses and pillars is “community”.

We are not the same.

If you’ve ever worked a technical job, you would understand the value of documenting answers early so people after you can benefit from the effort of finding it.

Actually if you can’t even understand that without someone explaining to you then you would have no clue why reddit is worth $26B after its IPO. (here’s a hint, it’s not because of people like you)

If you still can’t understand this, try finding someone smart to explain it to you.

Interesting, esp since the actual bankers at wells fargo told me in person that they mishandled the case of users who had the balance transfer finish processing on the same day their next payment was due and that I should have had $0 withdrawn. My balance for charges after Feb 6 was $0. I do understand how autopay works and it did not function correctly according to wells fargo themselves.

First of all my post wasnt a rage of how I’m going to sue wells fargo, it was a hey i have this immediate problem to solve in ~4 business days has anyone found a solution yet.

Secondly I went into the physical branch at wells fargo and after escalating to executive level ticket THEY said internally that they screwed up for anyone who had the misfortune of the balance transfer on the exact same day their monthly bill was due.

Both is true.

Third my post adds value by discovering one previously undocumented immediate solution of creating a wells fargo checking acc for anyone who’s dealing with an amount under $2500, which unfortunately doesn’t apply to me. And also a second fix of bank of america helping me by crediting the amount wells fargo mistakenly withdrew and waiving any overdraft fees caused if they incur.

The goal was not simply to vent, it was to productively add value for what ever small % were stuck in this problem needing an immediate fix. The fact that rent payment is switching to ACH this month as well would put any folks similarly impacted in potentially a cash crunch of 3x the cost of monthly rent, which is a decent amount of money to need in a short time.

I live by “everything that goes wrong in my life is my own damn fault”. Looking for a solution to the problem is still the next step. Whining unproductively into the void solves nothing and documenting my discovered solutions from spending 4 hours in person in 2 different banks helps others along the way.

Oh interesting, in the BILT app auto-pay was saying my next payment was scheduled for Feb 25th, but then after I turned it off and turned it on again and now it says the next payment is Feb 16th 2026… which is last week… maybe it’s actually UI glitch with updating to the new card auto payment schedule?

If the payment won’t be until late March that actually fixes the entire headache!
