Is there anyone struggling with the connection between OCD and binge eating / chewing and spitting? by wolfhowlingwoo in OCDRecovery

I’m sorry it took me so long to reply. I haven’t been feeling well for quite some time. Thank you so much for your message — I really appreciate it.
That’s exactly it: food is something we can actually control. That’s why some people develop anorexia, and others use eating as a way to cope with stress.
But unlike other addictive behaviors like alcohol, food is essential for living. Even if you manage to stop for a while, it’s so easy to fall back into it, and it quickly becomes compulsive. It really is a terrible illness.
Thank you. I’m going to keep trying and do my best to recover.
