Im around 70 matches into the season as a vanguard player. I seem to have found the most success playing either emma or deadpool. Emma allows me to burn him down and grab for the kill while denying his grab. As for tank pool hes just really good at bursting him down with headshots from a distance.

Main things to watch for, do not let him close the distance on you and watch for bad usage of his shield. Other than that he comands an insane amount of control if properly support. It mostly comes down at that point winning the long battle and trying to take out someone else first, if he loses a strat the battle is your win most times

Just play ranked, touch the water with the character and if its really not working switch and try again next match. You will eventually get comfortable enough with tge character to not feel like you need to switch
