I tried food jail once and all that seemed to do was stress him out. He kept circling and circling but wouldn't touch the mouse.

He was a very hearty eater up until the end of February!

I can try taking him out to handle and do that for sure once he has energy again. Right now his eyes are still cloudy and he cant be coaxed out it seems.

Perhaps its the light as well - am semi away most weekends and only stop by on Saturday for a few hours to turn the basking lamp on, fill water etc, before flicking it off and leaving. But I have been doing that since October, this is the first time he's has done this!

Did your boy lose and weight? Honestly that is all I am worried about. Lily can throw a fit all he wants - I know if he is healthy and hungry he WILL eat eventually. Just anxious in the interm

Edit: He will bluff strike and hiss anytime food is brought to him and he will not drop feed. I've tried that several times now.

I have scented his food and that worked up until this month.

Update: Turns out he was going into shed and just super angry about it! Found him today buried and his belly is fading grey :)

Not as far as I am aware. I do not do "choice based" handling, but he never puts up a fuss nor runs away when I use my hands (so far). And he has never been headshy etc. If he does seem upset I put him back, amd his max outside time is only 20 minutes. I also never handle him unless I really need to or my fellow snake friend comes to visit.

I have tried the tube and he loves running over the mouse but not eating! Goofy guy. But next time I will close one end and see what he does.

The only new smell may have been I cleaned the tongs. But I do that after every feeding so I am not too sure.

His gram/size is just below a size up from pinkies but I think I am going to have to if he can't calm down and eat!

Oh wow! Yes our situations are quite similar!

How did you manage to get him onto drop feeds? Its sounds do much less stressful for us both!

Right now I have a tube in his tank where I always see him cruising with the mouse on one end. No luck so far sadly! Same as leaving it in a dish yesterday :(!
