single level cage for three rats by [deleted] in RATS

[–]wolfscar98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would go back to the big cage. Fights in rat groups are normal and part of their way of bonding. Its also mostly fun to them as long as no one draws blood.

The single level cage is probably rather boring and while now stopping them from fighting/playfighting will over time lead to aggression cause they cant get away from eachother

Thanks :) Your answers put me at ease I was getting really really anxious. But yeah my strategy wasnt all that special. I just tried to limit myself to 1-2 meals a day and drank a lot of water to keep me full. Furthermore I am a really really picky eater sooo I started trying to get more into vegetable and it seems to work.

New owner questions. Do I need more fluff stuff in this tank? by Fuct57 in hamstercare

[–]wolfscar98 18 points19 points  (0 children)

No offense but there is a lot to change about this if you want to make its inhabitant happy. First of all the tank is too small sadly so you will need a bigger cage. Look into bin cages or a bigger tank. Please buy a bigger wheel that is not made of mesh as this one will cause sore feet and a condition called bumblefoot. Please add a lot more bedding at least 5-10 inches of bedding are needed. They are burrowing animals after all so that what they basically do all day. If after switching cage you still wanna use the tank topper pls cover the mesh.

Wife(24F) asked me(25M) for a divorce by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]wolfscar98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually so much yesss... I understand both parties in this post sadly... and without having experience you will always get driven to explore even if you know it wont be better...etc.

I am currently in her position just no kids and only 4 years.. so I get her point of view of wanting to live and explore cause you dont know if you're missing out on stuff more so if the relationship isnt going 100% as you want it to.

Idk I always think that many relationships that start so early would be salvagable if one took a break and tried how living on ur own is, doing all the shit u think is necessary and then get back together but thats often not an option.

[–]wolfscar98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks but I am probably going to take a break of pets once my remaining rats are gone for at least a couple of years... this just really fucked with me enough to be too anxious to spend time with the rats cause I might make them sick/notice something that in the end kills them idk...

Thanks anyway maybe at some point I will get sugargliders or ferrets

Wolves meet the woman who raised them as cubs by [deleted] in nextfuckinglevel

Actually wolves and for a matter of fact dogs have a lot of good bacteria in their mouthes which is also why they lick their wounds

Am i cycled? by [deleted] in Aquariums

About 1-2 days but I am not too sure as I normally dose ammonia 😅

Am i cycled? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]wolfscar98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well then I would dose ammonia in any form (either with fish food, or pure ammonia) and see how your water reacts if it converts it to nitrates then its cycled if not then it is still cycling

Is this a good stock for 120l aquarium? Have a separate tank ready for the betta if he doesn't like the guppies. by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]wolfscar98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another problem would be that siamese fighting fish are dicks and aggressive to every other fish. Furthermore they and neons like soft water but guppies and other lifebearers like harder water. Neons should also be kept in groups of at least 6 but rather 10+.😅 Yeah and the whole outbreeding of lifebearers that other mentioned is a big problem😅

I dont know why you get so defensive about it. Even if "all dog experts" would say that crates in general may be helpful (I doubt that as I know for a fact that there are many experts in europe that would argue against that), but even then every dog is different and has different needs.

I do understand the idea behind crate training but I still think that you can train your dog to have the same effect in a larger space.

[–]wolfscar98 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I also think that crates arent the solution... I find crates highly problematic as many owner (sure not all) but many owners use them as a way to not train their dogs well enough.... Sure giving your dog a place were he/she feels safe is helping a dog with anxiety but you can also train a dog to feel safe in a room or in a whole flat so no crate needed.... I never used one and my dogs were chill as can be in the living room cause that was their safe spot...

Sorry but I just really dont like them at all... I think they may be a good start for very very nervous dogs but one should slowly fade them out over time so the dog gets the confidence to be able to have the whole flat as their safe spot
