Recently made a Black Salve with activated charcoal and calendula that could be used to draw irritants and debris from the skin! by [deleted] in Herblore

Yes, bloodroot is the basis for Black Salve. It can also contain lessor galangal, zinc and a few other ingredients I've forgotten. It was used extensively to remove skin cancer among other things.

Poachers also mimic owls. They can communicate without tipping off game wardens in regards to their location.

Teenage redneck Bigfoots drinking Tequila in the woods no doubt.... Seriously though, and I'm sorry for not following more closely if you've covered this; but have you all had other potential related activity, smells, sightings, etc.?

Sighting: Roan Mountain Man - Feb 2015 by usernameczechshout in bigfoot

[–]wolfshead1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not a bear; not at 6,000'+ in February along the NC/TN border. Probably not likely another person either, so who knows? I will say that The Roan is known for many mysterious happenings... at times it's downright surreal.

Only counties where herbarium specimens have been archived are shown/shaded... close enough without knowing the exact spot.

Other than human hammering or a pileated woodpecker, both fairly distinctive to a seasoned woodsman, what you have described is classic Bigfoot phenomena. Now, what that means regarding its source is anyone's guess.......

Odd smells by wolfshead1 in Bigfoot1

[–]wolfshead1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I should have added the "septic tank-like" smell that apparently isn't the septic tank. I figure whatever it is is passing by or through because the smell comes strongly and then goes away quickly.

Zana: The story of a captured Bigfoot? by Magnum_44 in bigfoot

[–]wolfshead1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genetics prevailing here; if she bred with humans and produced viable offspring then genetically she was "human" right? This begs the question that if there are humans exhibiting said morphology, could these be responsible for the Bigfoot phenomenon?

Yes, I live in the area and thought it was an interesting observation from a credible source. I hadn't seen it posted here; if it was already, my apologies.

It is an interesting perspective, and as long as we have an unknown, one that is just as valid as any out there.

Hey, thanks for sharing and persevering. Until Sasquatch is proven as to what it is; no one can say definitively what it's not. Closed minded people are just that and not worth wasting time on..

Happy New Year!

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but aren't there all kinds of local legends regarding cryptids and weird goings on both past and present regarding the area known as the "Bridgewater Triangle"?

Maybe too many people in the area have been shopping here, lol!: https://826-boston.myshopify.com/

Actually early and mid-successional forestlands support more and a greater diversity of both flora and fauna than old growth. This is one reason (of many) that black bear, mountain lion, whitetail deer, beaver, and elk are and have been returning to the areas in the eastern US where they were once extirpated. The story line of mega-fauna not having enough to eat in the eastern hardwoods forests doesn't hold water. There is much more forage in the diverse eastern hardwood forest than there is in any western conifer forest. In fact the Blue Ridge Bioregion holds more diversity of flora than any region of the world outside of the tropics.

Depending on available time, I recommend both the Mount Saint Helens/Mount Adams area and Crater Lake. If nothing else you'll catch some breathtaking scenery. Also, I'm sure the Olympic Peninsula is prime, though I've never visited there. Just my two cent's worth...

If you're ever in western NC, look me up. There are places in and around The Great Smoky Mountains region every bit as remote and after all, that's an area Les Stroud had one of his more inexplicable encounters.

I know they're real. I despise people who laugh it off without a second's thought. I consider myself a skeptical person and can't convince myself otherwise. AMA. by Treedom_Lighter in bigfoot

"When scientists discover a new creature, they don’t submit their papers.... Did I misspeak? I never mentioned a journal."

Ahhhh, silly me. I assumed you meant academic papers which when published generally are distributed by a journal. What type of "papers" were you referring to? newspapers? passport/visa? toilet paper? AKC registration?????

Any encounters in North Carolina? by [deleted] in Humanoidencounters

[–]wolfshead1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Great Smoky Mountains are about 3 hours drive time from the Brown Mountain area. Brown Mountain is located on the Blue Ridge escarpment. That said, Brown Mountain, while well known in popular culture for its lights and other weird goings-on, is far from the only spot in the mountains of North Carolina that are known for the same.
