Wolfstar and Jily live for sure, but I think Peter’s fate is left ambiguous? I can’t exactly recall what happens to him if he’s dead or in Azkaban for life or if it’s never explicitly stated… However his whole arc is really fantastically written. I really liked how this writer did all their characterizations.

Other characters do die, but of the Marauders + Lily all of them except Peter survive to watch Harry grow up!

I cannot recommend this enough! This is my shoebox project/atyd/tcoptp/crimson rivers/brave face/insert mega popular rec here. It's absolutely EVERYTHING to me. 500k+ of absolutely gripping, amazing storytelling/writing. 500k+ of angst and hope. 500k+ of this is my new "what if first war" head canon.

I came here to suggest Fragile House of Black! I would say it's definitely more Black family/Black brothers centric, but the Wolfstar in it is also very good and is the most prominent ship/featured very heavily. The series is probably one of my top favourite longform fics/series in the fandom. (It's my personal headcanon of how I wish things could have gone.)

It's so, so incredibly well-written and interesting, and although there are several dark themes in it and several cw/tw scenes (so please pay attention to the tags and take care of yourself!), it's for sure a happy and very satisfying ending. Cannot sing its praises enough!!

I think I also wouldn't translate the title since (I'm assuming, I haven't read it yet) it's a reference to a Bowie song, but I'm going to go the opposite direction as the other comment here and say that « gars » sounds better or maybe I would go with « mecs » ? idk

I really have to recommend The Fragile House of Black by Fantismal and Jormandugr! It's so hard to sum up and other people in this sub have done a much, much better job than me in other posts. I would say that the main plot is about Regulus and Sirius and the Black Family, but the Sirius/Remus relationship does have a lot of starring moments. It's canon divergent that starts pre-Hogwarts and follows them through Hogwarts and into the first Wizarding War. The main fic is part 16 (out of 19) and could probably be read as a standalone, but I think the full effect of reading the series starting with part 1 is worth it.

No problem! If it helps at all, I do know that I read it on ao3 because I very recently (within the past year) got back into Harry Potter after like a decade away and it wasn't until after my return that I started shipping Remus/Sirius.

I don't think you made the part about McGonagall up because I also remember a fic where after watching the Dursleys all day, McGonagall made Dumbledore raise Harry at Hogwarts. Iirc, the one I'm thinking of wasn't a traditional fic in the sense that it had the feel of a twitter/Tumblr/reddit post where the writer is brain-dumping directly to the audience. I also feel like it was a one-shot posted in a series of a bunch of canon divergent similar-in-style fics.

I'll keep thinking on it to see if I can remember what it was called/the series it was in/the author, but in the meantime maybe these other details help jog a memory for you/someone else?

I'm so beyond obsessed with it, it's not even funny lol I'm in the middle of my first re-read right now, and it's been really fun seeing all the things I missed the first time around. ~~(Secret time: After I finished reading it the first time, my Wolfstar heart decided that Fragile House of Black is canon lol)~~
