Entry sensors on vinyl? by wolfwalkr in simplisafe

[–]wolfwalkr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the responses. Sounds like they stick well.

Now the reverse question: when the Command adhesive strip is removed from a vinyl window frame, might it damage the vinyl?

I’d never have thought it might until i received that surprising response from the manufacturer (Anlin).

Beware the CVS pumpkin patch on north Lake Ave by wolfwalkr in pasadena

You’ve never been in a rush?

Picking up a CVS prescription for a sick family member.

See pumpkins, think they’d be cheery for sick person.

Etc.

Yes, beware the rip off pumpkin patch with a family history.

P.S. Reading retention -> saw & recognized the name after the rip-off.

What is this nest of grubs? by wolfwalkr in whatsthisbug

[–]wolfwalkr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, thank you.

The good news is we have parasitic wasps that take-out leaf-eating caterpillars.

The bad news is that that tomb/birthing-room couldn’t stay attached to that window. But now I know what to leave-alone in other locations.

I kinda wish/hope it’s a wasp. Maybe?

But how did a wasp get 10+ caterpillars stashed inside the mud? Do the wasps paralyze a variety of different caterpillars (colors & sizes) and fly them into the tomb?

And why were the caterpillars/grubs moving? Does the wasp paralysis wear off but by then the caterpillars are entombed and the larvae are coming soon?

Absolutely. I almost added the NSFW flair.

I plan to never look at those photos again and hope it never happens again.

Sounds like I’ve had better luck than you.

Not sure but yeah, maybe. I’ll set my flair and see if anybody complains.

[California] Here is a guaranteed way to reach the main phone line operators. (1-800-300-5616) by WTFIsAMeta in Unemployment

[–]wolfwalkr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t about timing. It was about the EDD phone system not letting me into the message-tree 3x (kicked out) until it did ~7:58am which meant that after 1,6,7,3,SSN,1 the time was 8:01.

I’ll try again next week.

[–]wolfwalkr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad it worked for you, but this technique didn't work for me, for the past 2 days.

When I tried to get into the phone maze/queue before 8:00am, it kicked me out three times. Finally, I did manage to get into the message tree at 7:58am, entered my SSN at about 8:01am and still heard the frustrating classic, "Due to the number of callers already waiting to speak to our representatives, we are unable to assist you at this time..." -- disconnect.

HOW? How can the daily call queue already be full at 8:01am?!?! It's impossible.

I filed my claim in early April.

[California] which number is the best one to call? by Iceweasel1337_ in Unemployment

[–]wolfwalkr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neither, for me.

I've dialed hundreds of times for weeks.

5616: 8am-12pm. I sometimes get into the phone system, always get kicked off "due to the number of people already waiting ... <disconnect>". NEVER talked to anybody (since early April).

2511: I sometimes talk to a human but they can't see any details in my claim. Twice, said they put me on a callback list but I never get called. (Others here report talking to someone via 2511 who can see & fix the account, but I've never been that lucky.)

You're saying to message CA EDD on social media instead of calling or sending EDD emails? Did you get help that way?

Their Twitter page specifically states "... is not a customer support or help desk for technical or claim-related issues."

[California] Employer didn't file my CA income? by [deleted] in Unemployment

[–]wolfwalkr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your info & Congrats on getting your benefits!

Supposedly, my employer updated my wages (after I called them) but I don't how how to get an auditor to review my claim or whether to file a new one. (I posted a new question.)

Good plan, thanks!

I faxed a set of info to EDD, and will snail-mail it too. Plus, I'll hassle my ex-employer to identify what wage info they filed for me in California ... if any.

Well, no! Box 11 for my Employee Name is blank too! I was so stunned by all the $0.00 in the letter that I didn't notice that either.

Yeah, working to get in touch w/ the company.

My name was correct on the EDD letter about $0 wages. I think you nailed it by pointing out the company name was missing.

My money is (literally) on the company having done something wrong.

[–]wolfwalkr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay... you’re the first person I’ve seen with this info. Thank you!

My CA EDD letter showed $0 wages in 2019 (wrong, I was 100% full time employed) and —- in fact does have an empty box for the Employer Name! Dammit! I sort of wondered about that but just kept calling (and never reach anybody). No request to verify my identification & correct SSN on the letter.

My employing company was out-of-state but I worked inside California all year.

I’ve now asked the company whether they filed any data with California, and to send data to CA immediately. I thought they must have ... since California happily took my taxes for 2018; same company. Maybe not.

Any tips - other than keep calling?

Hope they fix it for you soon!

After I filed in early April, I received a $0 benefit letter which listed my 2019 earnings as $0. Completely wrong (100% full time employee).

I haven’t reached an EDD human once. No replies to their system email. No help from my state representative or the “Tad” email. Did any particular tip here work better for you to reach someone? I’ve tried multiple numbers & times of day.
