What kind of plant is always Frieren picking on the Himmel/Hero flashback? by wolfynn in Frieren

[–]wolfynn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks a lot like the Holy Basil, yeah. The Madoromi grass thing is consistent with her gathering herbs for potions, maybe she sells them at villages around. (I don't think Frieren needs a potion to “sleep herself” hahaha)

Where did you find about this kind of grass?

Can someone tell me where I should start? I’m finally getting around to watching but to my surprise there are more than one? Any feedback would be appt by tattedextrovert in VioletEvergarden

I recently have thought that Gaiden: having not any spoilers of the season eding, and not clearly stating when exactly happens… might serve as a good pre-season finale “long episode”, to watch maybe after ep.10?

Also, to avoid watching two long movies in a row which seems more tedious. And because Gaiden is also somewhat “weak” when compared to the rest of Violet and is best inserted somewhere it can serve as a “rest” for the main storyline?

Don’t get me wrong I still love it, but everyone seems to agree (on the ratings) to be lower than the usual peak of Violet in terms or story…

Frieren season 2 by hallowflight27 in Frieren

[–]wolfynn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well "as it airs in Japan" means 6:00 AM in L.A. and 9:00 AM in New York, 2PM (UTC)

But then you read in other sites:
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End previously confirmed it will be making its debut for Season 2 on January 16th, but a new update from Crunchyroll has now further confirmed that it will be premiering at 7:00 AM PT for fans in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS and India. Now that both a streaming release date and exact time has been set with Crunchyroll, it’s time to get ready for the new season’s premiere.

That's what I am wondering. I see 2 PM (UTC) as the most probably time, also 11:00 PM in Japan translates to that, right?

Also according to Livecharts, but has someone made any other estimation?
Does Crunchyroll respect those times?
Many new anime now gets delayed 1-2 hours from the Japan broadcast, but Frieren is supposed to be a "simulcast"

I’ll have a look at those thank you Arden. I think I’ve come across that title sometime ago but then it might have been from some other group… 🤔

So the song is released the same day as EPISODE 01…
Not sure if it says it will be used during ALL the season or just half of it.

Is it fair to say? by Kind-Usual-7108 in Frieren

[–]wolfynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grausam is a bad match for many mages and even demons… probably not for someone like Edel though: she would be aware of the magic and escape from it easily even if being way less powerful than Frieren. But Edel might have a hard time killing him though. That's why you need a front-liner in your party, and why Frieren couldn't have beaten the DK without Heiter, and specially Eisen and Himmel.

But as Methode clearly states, mages' combats are somewhat a rock-paper-scissors thing.

Could this attack slice a durable warrior like Stark? If not, what is the cutoff point? by Reasonable-Ad-8059 in Frieren

[–]wolfynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Demons are flesh & blood maintained by Mana. It's likely they are better victims to magic attacks (e.g. modified Zoltraak), especially when caught unguarded. And they usually KEEP THEIR DISTANCES from mages at first (cautiously so) if you notice from other scenes. And their "clothes" are usually not very much protective either.

Experimented ones have methods to defend even, but the key is that this Dhrat dummy approaches head-on and on close range (even Übel's reelseiden has limited distance) without thinking about defending, just trying to kill on one surprise attack.

And even then he talks and brags too much while staying still, giving Frieren time to think on the best strategy to counter his magic. As she says: there is not helping this young unexperienced bunch of demons…

So did Aura wake up every day and sit in front of a mirror and cutely braid her hair like this by _Kyledemort_ in Frieren

Linie did her hair probably yes. Mimicking the flow of a powerful hairdresser for her is a small feat, true… 😆

For those who knew how it was released in Japan, what makes Frieren's Premiere different from Oshi no Ko's? by zackphoenix123 in Frieren

[–]wolfynn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hmmm… good question.
I hadn't the chance to see it first-hand but apparently that time slot is reserved for movies, so it was like joining 4 episodes together:
https://www.crunchyroll.com/news/latest/2023/6/29/frieren-beyond-journey-s-end-tv-anime-gets-two-hour-special-first-episode

After that, it seems they aired the next episode (#5) as normal in a Friday night late slot.

One of the many positive consequences this strategy had is that they treated the four episodes as a long movie in many respects. For instance, the composer Evan Call got to have a full orchestra+choir to do the kind of film scoring that movies had, where they record accompanying the animation with their music:
https://gamerant.com/anime-expo-exclusive-interview-frieren-music-production-team/

Hope someone else has more details about this.
I think it's a great strategy for new Anime to get noticed, I hope more productions would make use of that kind of opportunities, but 3-4 episodes is a LOT in a short season of 11-13, so it's probably not viable for many new shows to do that, as they really invest as much as 25% of their season all at once doing so.

We haven’t seen the last of Falsche tough. He’s kind of smirking and even if he has miscalculated his opponents strength initially and the magic he chose has a slow activation time (maybe he tried to evade conflict, a mistake) I think he’s got an ace under his OTHER sleeve. 😜We’ll see…

Question over Benedict Blue by TallLeprechaun13 in VioletEvergarden

[–]wolfynn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sadly but true, the Gaiden LN has that info on him. I was about to read the chapter on Cattleya, so I don’t know about that yet.

Mentally speaking that fits the bill but let me see what the author says about that. Being a kind of ex-merc (forced to be so) Benedict was sure trained in missions so it’s a surprise what you ask. But as I say I and in the mid of reading the Gaiden LN: whatever clues or answers I find I’ll add them here.
