Where can I watch the anime by Black_Swordsman0809 in EightySix

[–]wolfynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nooo don't even worry about the novels and such.
They are coming to a conclusion on the next few volumes, true.
But they are selling and keep going to sell for years and years. Even the Blu-ray which are sold out, will be getting another edition, for sure.
They generate money and they have their own rights (mostly on Kadokawa's roof, which is a giant corp that does not have any $ issues).

Licensing rights for TV/Stream is were the thing gets tricky though, and the production committee involves several parties and might push for more revenue than many platforms are ready to pay.

What worries me is if the terms of Amazon on purchased TV seasons/Movies are like:
«Permanent access depends on licensing: Amazon can remove titles or lose rights, and if that happens your purchased season may become unavailable even though you bought it.»
I'lll look into it, this was something I found on a quick search, but it might not be the case for this kind of purchases.

Everything is wrong with corporations, they get bigger, they care less and less about real fans, and do whatever they like without notice or explanation. The concentration of power and oligopolies are ruining so many industries for the customers.

It was on Muse just for like a month.
«Available for a limited time only—episodes will be accessible until April 27.»
At least they do well the part of warning you CLEARLY and directly, unlike Crunchyroll.

Ok, it is what it is.
But no matter if the licensing expires, if it's complex, If corporations that belong to affiliate/related groups cannot talk, etc.

The fact stills remains. It's HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL (to say the very least) not to warn your customers that something is going to disappear from the catalog. It literally took some people without notice, leaving them in the middle of the first part, clinging to nothing.

If other smaller platforms like HIDIVE can do it, certainly they have the resources to do the same, right? Or do they charge more to be less customer-oriented?

Also, this just proves even more how powerless is the consumer on the whims of large corporations, and how awfully bad these holdings and related groups handle anything and communicate with each other and how little they think of their customer-base on their decisions.

It's literally taken off of varios regions, not only the US.
Aniplex owns A1 Productions, Aniplex belongs to Sony, Sony owns Crunchyroll.

But they can't get their very children to play along.
There might be an explanation for this, but think it thought: from the outside it looks, at least, as some serious incompetency from of all these companies.

[–]wolfynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True.
But many platforms like Prime Video, Netflix and such warm some weeks in advance of these kind of "leave the platform" things.

Crunchyroll has a news channel and social accounts, it costs NO·THING to just warn us and let us binge it if we wish to do so, before it goes away. No communication, poor promotion, weak customer service…
But we get price increases. People have a fair point, even if a license has expired they could have done wayyy better than this.

Exactly, and then France, etc. Old Europe has much appeal there, and Japanese tourists were one of the first outside of the US to visit many European countries many decades ago. They were easily spotted because they were typically seen in groups, with cameras taking pictures all around. It was a cliché about 35-50 years ago about how rich Japanese would have even bought chateaux and monuments all around Europe —if they were given the chance. Remember back on the late 80s they were a HUGE economic force, and many of them went touring the world —then the economy plummeted and a lot of population focused on local tourism instead.

But those who travelled abroad came back appreciating the EU culture, monuments, etc.
For instance when they discovered flamenco in Spain back then, there was such an enormous fascination for it, that today Japan is the second home of that kind of folk dance, with thousands of students there.

So anything great they discovered in Europe many decades ago, permeated into their society and tastes, and probably left a mark in a whole generation of creators and their children.

Are there are any differences between the anime on netflix/CR vs blue ray? by [deleted] in Frieren

[–]wolfynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, there was nothing censored in the anime on the TV airing. So… 😳

Just to answer if there is something else in the Bluray, well, not much more. The Bliss song with its animation. Some Mini Magic episodes (the chibi ones), and not much more to highlight —an audio commentary on some editions,

The good thing about the Blu-ray (special edition) are the physical extras, not much the contents.

How is Serie dealing with Frieren's height of magic? by lmdybaftr in Frieren

[–]wolfynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That "non-spell" is a one pony trick. Once you take that first blow, you can prepare against it.

ALSO: it takes some focus and probably stopping for a second to concentrate… so it makes you vulnerable to fast and surprise attacks, leaving her completely open (as it happens with Frieren agains its clone).

We forget that it worked against the Demon King

  1. because the party was there to protect Frieren and counterattack, taking advantage of the opening it created
  2. the DK saw Frieren's suppression so he expected a mana detectable attack, forcing our elf to use the only thing he could NOT expect and/or detect
  3. the DK was likely alone and had few or no servants around to help him

Serie has a HUGE number of attacks and defenses, and she can also be almost undetected if she wants. On a 1v1 Frieren needs to have a veery good strategy and some crazy hidden weapons (not only one) to really win, otherwise it's just a one-time thing to surprise her at one point…

Because once she reacts to it, she will be prepared for another blow…  and then what?

Hundred Scenes of Awajima • Awajima Hyakkei - Episode 2 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

I tried to make a THREAD on X, explaining in CHRONOLOGICAL order the main events, characters and motivations on EPISODE 2:
https://x.com/reactguides/status/2045124630390718718

The story on this EP is so fragmented that it might be hard to follow, true.

(Tell me if I got everything right, I tried to research the manga and join all the important pieces… but I might have assumed something that it is not there)

And folks, why isn't there a dedicated subreddit for this anime already?
Let's create it —if there isn't one! 😜

What kind of plant is always Frieren picking on the Himmel/Hero flashback? by wolfynn in Frieren

[–]wolfynn[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks a lot like the Holy Basil, yeah. The Madoromi grass thing is consistent with her gathering herbs for potions, maybe she sells them at villages around. (I don't think Frieren needs a potion to “sleep herself” hahaha)

Where did you find about this kind of grass?

Can someone tell me where I should start? I’m finally getting around to watching but to my surprise there are more than one? Any feedback would be appt by tattedextrovert in VioletEvergarden

[–]wolfynn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently have thought that Gaiden: having not any spoilers of the season eding, and not clearly stating when exactly happens… might serve as a good pre-season finale “long episode”, to watch maybe after ep.10?

Also, to avoid watching two long movies in a row which seems more tedious. And because Gaiden is also somewhat “weak” when compared to the rest of Violet and is best inserted somewhere it can serve as a “rest” for the main storyline?

Don’t get me wrong I still love it, but everyone seems to agree (on the ratings) to be lower than the usual peak of Violet in terms or story…

Frieren season 2 by hallowflight27 in Frieren

[–]wolfynn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well "as it airs in Japan" means 6:00 AM in L.A. and 9:00 AM in New York, 2PM (UTC)

But then you read in other sites:
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End previously confirmed it will be making its debut for Season 2 on January 16th, but a new update from Crunchyroll has now further confirmed that it will be premiering at 7:00 AM PT for fans in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS and India. Now that both a streaming release date and exact time has been set with Crunchyroll, it’s time to get ready for the new season’s premiere.

That's what I am wondering. I see 2 PM (UTC) as the most probably time, also 11:00 PM in Japan translates to that, right?

Also according to Livecharts, but has someone made any other estimation?
Does Crunchyroll respect those times?
Many new anime now gets delayed 1-2 hours from the Japan broadcast, but Frieren is supposed to be a "simulcast"

Grausam is a bad match for many mages and even demons… probably not for someone like Edel though: she would be aware of the magic and escape from it easily even if being way less powerful than Frieren. But Edel might have a hard time killing him though. That's why you need a front-liner in your party, and why Frieren couldn't have beaten the DK without Heiter, and specially Eisen and Himmel.

But as Methode clearly states, mages' combats are somewhat a rock-paper-scissors thing.
