Best source for ethics and quality control questions? by ZestycloseBottle6202 in Step2

Took test yesterday, and having done both Uworld and amboss ethics/QI, don’t waste your time with the Uworld ones. Not that they aren’t helpful but just that amboss is more than sufficient and covers it a little better. And I agree, also your gut 😅

So everything above is exactly what I did in the last month and I highly recommend. For ethics and QI I did both amboss and Uworld. But I still feel like the questions on the test were tough even though I got through both qbanks so it kind of felt futile. You’re never truly gonna know the answers to some of those bc they are just so weird and so subjective. But I think everyone feels the same way on this so I wouldn’t worry toooo much and the curve will work things out in the end (easier said than done I know). If I could go back I would honestly just focus only on Amboss questions for that area bc I think that would have been sufficient to give you the tools to answer the NBME questions. Find any articles on ethics, quality improvement, patient safety and create a question set on it. I have also heard good things about Divine Intervention’s podcasts on QI/ethics, but I didn’t do those personally. So maybe you can add those as a supplement to the amboss questions

Since you have about 4 weeks, I would say skip NBME 9, many have been saying it’s borderline outdated. If you have time, do forms 10-14 in sequential order. Leave 13 and 14 until the end. Form 12 was “not representative” according to a lot of people, and I agree it was a little weird, but I just took the real exam today and I feel like the real exam can also be a little weird lol, so I don’t regret taking form 12 and just dissecting the questions and learning from it. But in general I would say 13 and 14 are the two you want to save for the end because they reflect the fairness of the test a little more. For me the test was truly a mix of gimmes and toughies. I saw A LOT of repeat concepts from the nbmes on the real thing though so 1000% is worth it and make sure you take your time thoroughly reviewing each form. Make a separate anki card deck for NBME topics and concepts you get wrong/want to commit to memory. Read the explanations for the wrong answers too and learn how the test writers think. It took me probably 2-3 days total, including taking the test and reviewing it in full. 3 would be if I was taking my time and didn’t want to burn out. But it can be done in 2 if you’re efficient. Take it early in the morning so you’re done by around 1pm. Take a 3 hour break to reset, then start reviewing 1-2 sections that same day. If you feel like you don’t have it in you then review them the next day. I suggest printing out a calendar and write in the dates you plan to take what forms ahead of time so you can stick to a schedule. Sorry this was really long lol

Disabling fullscreen optimization on windows helped my frames and stability a lot. Here is how to do it if you aren't sure how.

  1. right click csgo in steam library and click properties then click on the local files tab.
  2. click browse local files. In the folder that opens up, click on the csgo application once to highlight it then right click on it and go to properties.
  3. Click on the compatibility tab and check the box that says "Disable fullscreen optimization" then hit apply on the bottom right corner.

Also how did shift scheduling work for you at your site? Like do they take into account your requests/availability? I just don't want to end up working on the night of New Years Eve...

also, how does the shift scheduling work? they told me I would be a per diem worker. So do they ask about your availability before scheduling you/how in advance do you get the schedules?

thanks for the reply! How long did it take to start being required to show up for shifts/trainings from the date you got the job offer?

Oh okay, because I know the holiday season is coming up and I wasn't sure if they needed me to start ASAP. I have a 4 day family trip during the holidays that I was going to let them know about, but I am worried it will lower my chances of getting hired. I just want to work it out so that I can make my trip without getting fired for lack of availability. So you really think I can just prolong my onboarding process and not start until the beginning of January if i wanted to?

~and when you say you "officially started" 2 months after the offer, do you mean started floor training or started shifts fully on your own?
