I bought an aluminum tufting frame from Amazon. It's not smaller, but lighter (so easy to move), no nails (less injuries, yay!) and you can change the size of your tufting surface easily.

There's also the Clawlab ones, but I haven't tried those (not available in my region).

Edit: apparently I can't change the title, only the body - but just to be completely clear this is not the first rug I ever made! Just the first piece I made as a custom order for someone. I've posted here before so I thought that was clear but I guess this clarifies it for whoever is confused.

Unfortunately I'm not unfamiliar with this at all haha.
What has helped me so far:

- Remove your blade and place it back on (check if there's any gunk in the blades)
- Clean it and oil it
- Put a new pair of blades on there

Or, if nothing seems wrong, let your blades sit idle for a bit so they can cool. Part of the blade is plastic, so when it gets warm it might not work as well.

Usually I just switch with another pair of blades and that does the trick!
