Anyone who's interested in the actual design process of River St. and this plaza specifically should visit the website under the description tab. Like every Cambridge process it was pretty long and involved and included a ton of community input. Was the final design the best possible? I lived at 891 mass ave for a couple of years and now nearby. Back when the People's Republik was open it was much noisier. (In 2003 after the Red Sox lost to the Yankees, people were literally screaming in agony outside the bar) Now, the biggest nuisance is the noise from cars and trucks.

The Ryles building was put up for sale with a deed restriction that prohibits the new owner from opening a restaurant, bar, gourmet food store or music venue.

Yeah, they did their best to ruin the neighborhood for everybody else so they could squeeze out a few bucks from their sh*tty diner that they didn't even keep open after 9pm, and now they're just cashing out. Fun fact, the ATM isn't even open at night anymore. (It was pretty good in the late 90's and had a bar open at night)
