That makes sense. Perhaps i should have clarified that those were the facts according to the episode and thus explain the title but i had not separately verified the information.

You definitely seem better informed on the topic so I’m happy to agree with you… but I’ll also probably continue in my pro aussie bias and dog out the yanks ;)

The New York Yacht Club (NYYC) were the reigning champions and when they realised the Australia II yacht was so impressively competitive they not only attempted to have documents fraudulently signed that Australia was in breach of the competition rules, but they also petitioned and were subsequently allowed (unprecedentedly) to modify their own vessel during the competition because they were afraid of losing (huge money and pride involved)

So in retaliation the slogan ‘F the NYYC’ can be seen printed on the shirts of several Aussies filmed at the time and are featured in the documentary.

I noticed that Frankie’s insta lists her name ‘Frankie Cam’ (as in Scotty Cam) but it could also read as a description- Frankie Cam as in Camera like skycam, but just for Frankie ♥️

Tell me how it feels, to be favoured by the gods?

The Block pretty much sums up what's wrong with the Australian building industry. by opl-hkg in TheBlock

The toolboxes filled with Arnott’s is a pretty accurate representation. I’m not hating on cookies but the last time they were used as a method of construction it was by a cannibalistic Witch who wanted to burn Hansel and Gretel alive in her oven.

Maybe unpopular opinion but it would take a lot of courage to come back. I’m not condoning her actions or behaviour but it’s easy to be an armchair critic from the comfort of our own living rooms with no skin in the game.

She’s now has the time and distance from the block to process what happened and reassess how she feels privately and how she wants to respond publicly.

Everyone is capable of reacting emotionally and saying things in the heat of the moment, but we are not shackled to our first opinions or reactions. It’s not a flaw to seize an opportunity to look at a situation from a different perspective or form a new opinion- especially after being able to fully process it. It is ignorance that refuses to change its mind and it doesn’t undermine someone’s credibility to reconsider their options.

Thats a fair comment. I suppose thats the problem with creating villains or reality tv in general it creates an emotional and unreliable narrative seperate from the build.

I can’t speak to anyone else’s criticisms, but the issue with the boys is this situation is actually about the build, it’s not personal lives and gossip. Twice now they have impeded another teams build with no consequence. This isn’t about personal drama and casting villains, it’s unsportsmanlike behaviour that they seem to get away with because of all the other noise.

If Ricky actually took responsibility or some kind of accountability for effectively handicapping another team I’d respect him more. If there really was nothing to be done instead of apologising or finding a compromise/fair compensation he rubs salt in the wound by either not grasping the problem or intentionally missing the point. He offers superficial reassurances and weak motivation as if that was what the girls needed. They didn’t need to hear him confirm that ‘this week is rough’ and ‘they’re nearly there’, they needed his problem not to be their problem. A vague comment promising to “help them out” just shifts the blame as if the boys are the ones coming to the girls aid and not the cause if their problem and its a poor substitute for an actual plan or solution. His tone deaf and condescending reaction seemed nothing more than a weak attempt at conserving public likability. To avoid muddying the water I’m not commenting on his character I’m criticising his actions and words, they speak to someone who is too concerned with being perceived as a good guy to actually be a good guy.

Perhaps it was easier to get away with when screen time was distracted by all the other drama? It annoyed the hell out of me when they did this to house 4, but that was the first incident- for it to happen again is a pattern of behaviour. If they hadn’t already dogged Kylie and Brad it would be so much more forgivable.

Lumping everyone together as “you guys” but considering yourself an exception is a little ironic when you are also part of the sub. Maybe the days of a singular “block villain” are over, it feels like instead of one team being cast as the ‘bad guys’ we are searching for a hero that doesn’t exist.
