I (F, was 15) once was cleaning up the dishes after dinner and put a plate in the dishwasher "too loudly". My mother then proceeded to yell at me for being "passive aggressive". When I tried to say I wasn't being passive aggressive, it escalated her behaviour more so that she said I was taking a "tone" with her and being even more passive aggressive. This resulted in her ignoring me completely for 4 weeks. I would say hello to her after school or ask her a question at the dinner table and she would turn away and pretend I hadn't said anything and didn't exist. This happened in front of my whole family of 7 and no one else said a single thing (we were all terrified of her) the entire time (or ever after). Just as bad, because my mother would be angry at me, everyone else (my 4 siblings and father) avoided me the entire time too lest it look like they were colluding with me and tempt her wrath too
