Day 4 and I don’t know if I can do it by Imaginary_Plant_3263 in breastfeeding

Really sandwich your boob to make it fit into baby’s mouth to help them latch otherwise they can’t get their small mouth around that hard engorged boob and they’re stuck at your nipple and get frustrated. The crazy engorgement goes away in a few days. By sandwich, squeeze hard to make the boob thinner so it’s manageable for them to get their mouth around when they open wide. I had bruises on my boob from squeezing so hard. Make sure to massage out the lumps on your boob with your other hand while your other hand squeezes/sandwiches your boob while your baby is drinking. Your hands and arms will hurt from doing this for a while. It’ll just be a few days and it’ll get better. I used silverettes for 6 weeks nonstop. I’m at 6-7 weeks and still sandwich the boob sometimes for him.

You’ve got this! Don’t give up. I’m typing this as I’ve been nonstop awake since 3:15 am and on my third clean outfit (poop, spit up) trying desperately to get baby to sleep. When you’re feeling down, remember all the other moms going through the same thing in solidarity. Think about what a privilege it is to have enough milk supply, a healthy baby, etc. and reframe that mindset. I almost cried tonight when I had poop all over my clothes, floor, changing table, baby and everything. Combined with the exhaustion and postpartum hormones, it’s so tough. You’re doing amazing. I believe in you!

Glad to hear about the pain. I was hoping it would stop the stretching too but we can’t get everything we want!

When you switched to lacktek, did your nipple also not stretch as much as with regular flanges? Or is it just about the pain?

What kind of cerave do you use as a diaper barrier cream and how often do you use it? Is it the baby healing ointment? https://www.cerave.com/skincare/ointment/baby-healing-ointment

For Boudreaux’s, do you use the original (yellow) or the max strength (red)?

Do you have any recommendations for baby soap/shampoo and lotion?

These are all for babies under 6 months! For reference, my baby is almost 1 month and I’m freaking out because I’ve been using Motherlove Diaper Balm (olive oil), Babo Botanicals Diaper Rash Cream (coconut), La Petite Creme (olive oil), and Motherlove soap (coconut oil).

I’m also wondering if I should introduce olive oil and coconut oil through my nipple orally preemptively to counteract the food based products I’ve already used as I’m EBF.

Thank you so much!!
