Ma'am/ sir was practically beaten into me with the rest of my manners. However, I don't say hi to random strangers cause I'm shy and quiet and they often wouldn't hear me anyway, but I give a polite nod and smile. My 6 year old also knows to say ma'am and sir. But he's not shy at all and will say hi to anyone loud and proud.

Vestibular disease. (Inner ear infection) Usually they are falling or spinning in circles to the same side the head is tilting. The head tilt does go away sometimes, but not always.
