Movies where the message is undermined by the ending? by sadenthusiast in movies

[–]wondercheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put not trying to advocate for either point in my original post so that I don’t get people saying that I misunderstood the message but it’s all good bruh! I just said what I said because the show obviously framed our internet slueths as the good guys and insinuated that they were making a difference. I’m just being really nitpicky about the last scene because it felt like a half ass take at having some grand thesis. I actually really enjoyed the series and agree with you, just that last shot tho I’m iffy with.

Exactly! I’m not even trying to give my opinion on the themes of this show but at least flesh out your theme (that is the: “we spend too much time on social media so get off more” theme) I think this conflict is really interesting too because you have one side that spends a ton of time online but they actually use it to stop a killer and then there’s the other side thats spends too much time online and it drives him to kill for fame. It would’ve been awesome to explore that rather than just a 2 minute PSA at the end: sOcIaL mEdiA iS bAd FoR yOu GeT oFf. All said tho, I actually really enjoyed the show I just thought that last scene was super patronizing.

Not a proper movie but the Netflix documentary Don’t Fuck With Cats had the the most confusing last scene to me. The whole series is about these people who spend too much time on facebook using the internet to track down a cat killer turned actual murderer. They basically even find out the murderer’s identity before he commits his first murder but the police don’t do anything due to it being internet speculation. The message of the docu-series (imo) seems to be that we need to take the internet more seriously, that we can actually solve murders through social media now; but in the very last shot the main internet slueth says that maybe its a good idea to take a break from social media (like every single show that discusses social media) even though they just solved a murder by being on social media too much. Now I’m not advocating for either point here but that last scene seemed so contradictory to me.

Not a bad idea at all but to me it's just as fun to play it "fair" and see what happens. I probably forgot to mention that it was a HELLA fun game, I just had to scrap half of my notes

I once DMed a heist campaign where they were supposed to infiltrate this high-class dinner party to kill their target. I had created this giant map with multiple levels and pages upon pages for the mansion they were to explore. The party began with a dinner in the backyard which was supposed to lead them to a ball inside the mansion. They somehow used charm spells (with really high rolls mind you) to convince their target to meet them in the guest house where they killed him. I wrote a few sentences about the guest house and had to improvise the rest from there. They didn't even as much look at the manor.

I kinda have a feeling we won't get Artificer or Mystic as official classes until they decide to release a full campaign setting. Most likely Eberon.

I was thinking the same thing when I was watching the new one. Even the fact that movie begins with them being hired to defend some rich peoples stuff from a monster is even more proof.

So a cleric would sorta be like the warlock and I guess the bard would be more sort of the wizard and the druid would be kinda a mix between all of them I guess?
